new bank account won't link

Well guys here I am again with 300 gbp sitting in an account I can't even withdraw from

I got a fresh new bank account prepaid one from eccount and when I go to link it to my account it says

You have used this account on a previous account which is impossible as its brand new

So guys now what do I do

GreenBean 07-07-2012 10:48 AM

Seems strange.

What happened to the bank account that ideally should have been attached to the account?
I notice you do say an amount in sterling but is it a UK account?

Did you not go back to eccount to check?

Did you double-check there was no error with the numbers you entered

Get someone back home to make an account for you?

The bank account I want to attatch is active and ready to go and is brand new

All numbers are exact as printed

Its a stealth account with diff name than my bank account I was told it don't matter

But paypal return with an error saying for security reasons this has already been attatched to another account please use another bank account

But its a fresh account

Does paypal do a check that the bank account address is the same as the paypal

Becuase the bank account is under my name and my address

Does paypal know the bank account registered address ?

Little update

I have been advised to call customer service so they can search were my brand neww account information has been used before for my bank account

The problem is its a stealth account that has a diff name and address that does not match the bank account I am trying to add

So I they ask for verification wat do I do

The name on the bank account is my real name and my real address

Do I stick with the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ details and insist its the same as my bank??

If they ask for veriffication how would I prove it lol

Please help

They cannot see your real name or address as long as you are not using LLoyd's TSB, unless they take a payment directly from your bank account (think of it as "upload" vs "download"),.

in which case they could see the details regardless of your bank.

So yes just say that your details are the same as those for your bank account... PayPal will tell you that having the wrong name will make deposits fail but this is false as long as you avoid LLoyd's

off topic, but some banks will deny deposits if they are in a different name, but that is the bank and not paypal.

back to topic, being able to add an account should have nothing to do with any info. This seems like a bug on paypal's side if you are sure this is a new account. Id give them a call, if you remember all the info you entered such as dob etc. if not, then get a new bank account :)

Some banks have a static account number / sort code for all customers, but also gives you the option to have your wages paid in to the account.
This is done by filling in a form, having your employee sign it and then sending the form back to the bank who will then know whose account to put the money into.

So...does this bank give each customer a UNIQUE account number / sort code? Or is it a generic one that every customer has?
