shut down this year at 193 items

well this year is off to a bang. i sell on ebay and all of my items are right around $9-10. sometimes more depending on who is bidding. i have made around 1500 or so dollars so far this year and they have shut me down asking for tax info already.

im not sure if this is because i have made so much so fast or what but i just couldnt beleive it when i was locked out of listing more items since that drew my attention and i found out i was limited after i saw the email.

so i guess it is going to be getting a little more difficult on here. i wonder if you will only be allowed about 200 items and then they are asking for the info or if i just went to fast after the new year.

has this happened to anyone else listing a lot of items out of the gate like i did? luckily i have many more accounts and i just made three more before i found out about this but i thought that this was a little strange.

please post up of what has happened to you so far this year.

thanks a lot and any help or recommendations other then taking it slowly would be greatly appreciated.

I guess this is because 200 items limit. You should call them ant try to ask to lift your limits because you are far away from reaching $20,000.

stevesokol21 01-09-2013 04:04 PM

has anyone ever had any success doing that? i will give it a shot but i will be waiting until i withdraw most of my money from there and it clears.

has anyone else had this happen to them? how many item/$$$ were you at?

thanks a lot

steve

Again the 200 items and 20,000 is just a number.

Many have been hit with the request as low as 95 items sold and 5000 in sales and some maybe even lower.

Many have posted the low numbers.

I post it all the time, 200/20 is just a number IRS gave pp to look at and pp makes the decision from there who has the "potential" to hit these numbers so they get prepared for it if you have the potential to hit or come close to those numbers.

Spread sales on many accounts!

stevesokol21 01-09-2013 08:45 PM

i am aware of that sandy. and thank you for the post. i just found this a little wired and am wondering if this has happened to anyone else yet this year and how many item/how much money was sold. just wondering if 200 items is what paypal is targeting since i have been booted before but that was because i was at the higher dollar amount limit.

thanks

steve

For instance, if you sold 100 items so far in January you are tossing flags all over the place.

In that case you will hit the 200 items sold very soon and you possibly will get the request quickly.

Slow down on sales on any one account, spread sales out.

MM78 01-09-2013 10:15 PM

@OP, Crazy question...but do you have more than 1 ebay account?

rsot 01-09-2013 11:57 PM

Definitely time to make new accounts and learn to rotate sales.

stevesokol21 01-11-2013 01:19 AM

yes i have 10 accounts now but i was thinking that i would be alright since it was the start of a new year. guess i was wrong...

on to the next and time to slow down apparently. making another 10 accounts this weekend. wish me luck.

Put this on back burner, paypal may also start holding 30% of your gross earnings if the tax requirements are not met.

Certainly January is a really different month in terms of paypal behavior from last year.

:spy:

stevesokol21 01-12-2013 04:58 AM

the account is locked and i cannot even do anything on the account. i cant accept payments that is. so listing anything is useless.

paypal is much different then this time last year, that is for sure. you think this will continue all year? is anyone else having any problems like this?

i ended at $19907 this year and carefully i mean careful data keeping.

krimson 01-14-2013 12:02 PM

i also have hit close to 200 transactions on two accounts and both have asked me for EIN or SSN i have just moved on to other accounts and started spreading my sales so maybe i can slow them down alil from asking for that info..i even open an canada ebay so im gonna see how that goes as well

krimson 01-14-2013 12:06 PM

has anybody pushed passed the 200 item mark even after being asked for EIN or SSN? well im pushing past it on one of my accounts just to see what is going to happen. ill keep yall posted...

brownsauce215 01-14-2013 04:29 PM

FYI...

I surpassed the 20k margin. PP request ssn info or ein each time I log in (since Novemeber 2012). I just ignore and keep selling slowly on EB as auction style. Til this day, no problems from either one, but PP popups on ssn and ein each time I log on. 100% feedback, 14 month old account. sells vero items once a week + other small items. all is good, for now.

bowlfan912 01-14-2013 07:35 PM

I have to say I got hit at 18,500 for my ssn and I did give it to them because I needed to collect $1k in sales. I've had no problems with identify issues since

You have hit close to 200 sales on accounts in 2013?

Just for the new people who have never read my post.

Many have reported getting hit with sales not even close to 200 and 20k.

Many as low as 100 items sold and 5,000 sales or less.

Spread the wealth around.

Yes should continue all year - dont expect any relent on pp`s part.

dreamer90 01-14-2013 11:04 PM

One time I called in to get a increase in my selling limits because i was selling low value items at $2-$3 each.... it went from 100item-5k a mth to 200 item-2k a month... I dont know why ebay did that... its probably because I called in, I dont know. Both Ebay/paypal is tricky no matter what year it is...

brownsauce215 01-17-2013 04:58 PM

Just a suggestion:

Sell at 60-75% of what your limit is. You say you want to sell more? No problem, time to create more account (the excuse I always give myself to create more).

Eventually you'll find that threshold where you can only manage so many accounts, where you'll realize there's life outside of eb sales lol. good luck!

dhunter0294 01-17-2013 05:16 PM

When you provide an EIN in place of a SSN does that work anymore? Or are they able to see the EIN's owner's SSN and cross reference?

vogeltron 01-18-2013 05:08 AM

Happy to say I was limited from closing my account or receiving payments in mid Dec 2012 just got reinstated last week. Was at 18.9k. Good luck!!!!!
