I wanted to share this Apply for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) Online

This is the IRS' site to apply for an ein online. Remember you can have several eins to provide to paypal and its completely legit as long as you pay the taxes.

I'd like to get some feedback from anyone who uses it as everytime I have tried I get a message its unavailable so try backlater. Maybe you will have better luck than I.

I have used the facility by going via the main URL

Internal Revenue Service, using that magical search button to get to your site.

Not ever had issues with it being unavailable. In fact, used it on Sunday evening. Other times have mostly been in the evenings PST

It worked just fine every time I used it. It is quick (10 mins to complete max), to the point, and extremely easy. The best part is you can get the EIN letter instantly online in PDF form. This is one of the few government systems that is a breeze to use. You probably got unlucky and tried using it one of the few times a year they update it or it could just be your browser.
