Limited Paypal Acct E-check was cancelled

About a week ago I sent a payment to my supplier through my Stealth Paypal account and paid with funds from my linked checking account. A day later my account became limited. i am assuming it was because I sent a large amount of money to a Chinese merchant with a relatively new paypal account (Stupid I know). The e-check was cancelled but Paypal did not reverse the funds back to my bank account but rather they are holding it hostage and I have to wait the 180 days to release the money. Does anyone know if contacting my bank will speed this process or am I asking for trouble by getting them involved?

Since you sent money, you have right to get it back if you don't receive what you paid for even PayPal wants to keep it.
Once echeck clears, your money will be in PayPal balance. Call them to reverse the money since it's yours. Otherwise, call you bank.

If you have mismatching names you can never upload funds from a bank account or send and echeck. The PayPal account will become immediately limited once they realize the names don't match.

While vogeltron states wisely it is not recommended to upload funds from your bank, I think it is not this action only that caused your account to be limited.

Was your account also receiving sales funds from eB? Something that could be looked at as drop-shipping?

Were you operating stealth or was this pp linked to old pps that have been suspended?

Contacting your bank will not help right now - pp has your money

What use will that be to the OP?

paypal is in control of the funds.

Bank is at the mercy of paypal.

OP has to sort the matter with paypal before he gets a sniff of the funds.

I agree with this :-(

I have $13,000 held the same way. I have 8 years of PP experience and I am the supplier in this case.

I call PP still and so does the sender.. we are fighting but my continued research and results seem to all point to the 180 day wait time.

I suggest keep trying and KEEP MAKING MONEY. If you can make money every day consider the PP money as a 6 month 0% interest CD account. LOL

PP can hurt our cash flow BUT THEY CAN"T TAKE OUR FREEDOM.... ;-)

Just called Paypal... Give that the account is limited they claim they cannot reverse the money back into my bank account. Looks like I have to possible wait the dreaded 180 days. :(

I would go to bank if I was you.

No possible about it - quite likely you have to wait...it sucks but hey, that's Paypal.

Again, about that advice to contact your bank...unnecessary - the money is not with your bank

IMO, my reason is straight forward.
Because you were sending payment using PayPal for your purchase, by whatever method you used, instance, e-check, or credit card, you are expecting to receive your order.
Since PayPal limits your account and keeps your money there, and seller won't ship, you have right to call bank to claim that you do not receive what you paid for.
You also have order invoice and PayPal invoice which can show your bank to prove that.
I am also thinking about OP is using his account for receiving money, but this is PayPal stuffs and you have your bank on their regular policy.
No matter how you paid for your purchase, if you don't receive it, your bank will definitely get it back for you.
This is what I thought, but what I have done several times.

Makes sense to me also. Anyone else care to chime in on this theory?

rsot 05-06-2013 02:26 PM

I see your point but my experience with banks (mainly in Canada and few in the US) is that your chequing account has only one protection: fraudulent use/access i.e. scammers who get your card or info and do unauthorized transactions. You do not have the same protection that you have with credit cards such as : service not rendered, goods SNAD, fraud on purchasing, etc. You could expect a lot of push back from the bank as to why you should get your money back - and they will charge you a fee for investigation which can be high...

The crucial factor in this is paypal is the other party.

paypal and banks playing together to see who has the right of ownership of funds is an arduous task.

Banks don't do as you said. If you have a proof that you paid for something and not receive it, bank will take that money back for you at no charge.
Bank policies may also be different country by country.

You need to file with bank as a transfer dispute bank will get the money back asap.

Doesnt an e-check take 3-5days to clear? Get on your bank before its past that window. They can cancel the check.

OP has indicated that the check already cleared but then his account went limited :(
