A VPN is better able to hide the fact that it is a remote connection. HOWEVER: EB/PP/AMZ have lists of the IP ranges of popular VPN (and VPS) providers and they don't like these, either, since they figure the user has something to hide.
A VPS is the same thing as a VPN, except that instead of just having a remote connection, it comes with a server - so you are logging into the server remotely and using THAT computer. Everything on your PC stays private. With a VPN, you would be using YOUR PC over their connection.
I highly recommend a merchant account. It does no harm to have PayPal as an OPTION, but if it is your ONLY option and PayPal freezes your account, you will no longer be able to make any new sales and your money will be held for 180 days. Many merchants who used PayPal as their only processor have been left scrambling to find a new payment processor - if they have the funds to keep operating at all, since PayPal freezes their funds for the 180 days. For many small businesses, taking a hit like that can effectively shut them down permanently - since without access to working capital, you cannot make sales. |
