Opening LOTS of bank accounts can get you banned from opening ANY accounts!

hi, i have a problem with too many checking accounts closed. i have had 4 checking accounts with wamu closed. today i called to close for the 4th time and the agent was really suspicious, i knew she must have been thinking why does this guy close accounts every 2 months??
any solutions to this? i remember hearing somewhere that with ING, you dont have to call an agent, you can just close the account online. is this true?

TGMT² 07-31-2008 12:43 PM

Why are you closing so many accounts? Are you getting suspended on Ebay for reasons other than being linked to a suspended account?

yougotit 07-31-2008 01:06 PM

i am getting suspended because i dont pay my fees

Maybe you need to get a regular job. LOL

John14789 07-31-2008 01:36 PM

Ok I do not understand why you voter whith checking accounts when you can open savings accoutns with no problems at all. If you open and close soo many checking accounts it will this effect your fico score. Just oepn WAMU savings account and you'll be set. Now I don know if you need to call WAMU to close savings account but I don't think you do.

That's kind of like telling someone to smack you in the face and then complain to them that they smacked you in the face. Why are you not paying your fees? If you sell and eBay lets you sell, then you should pay your fees. Otherwise you're a fraud. Sorry, just my opinion.

I only don't pay eBay fees if they suspend me. Otherwise I pay them on time on every account.

TGMT² 07-31-2008 02:04 PM

I 100% agree with Imjustme! The purpose of this forum is to sell on Ebay and stay under their radar. If you have fee's, chances are you made some kind of profit with Ebay. Seems like you would want to keep that going with a minimum of hassle.

yougotit 07-31-2008 02:29 PM

Dear John14789

Dear John14789, I dont quite follow, whats the difference between wamu checking and saving?
to everyone else who thinks this is unethical or whatever, would you rather make ebay richer, or keep your money for yourself?

Well its people like you that are making it a bigger hassel for the guys that are trying to do it right harder.
Go find a cliff, you know what to do next.

imjustme 07-31-2008 03:38 PM

When you find that cliff, PM me. I'll throw in a free push.

imjustme 07-31-2008 03:44 PM

Seriously, you need to start thinking. You're in the US, right? If you keep stiffing eBay for the fees, they will keep closing your accounts. You'll need new checking accounts again and again. What do you do when you're up to say 30 or 40 checking accounts that you keep closing every 2 months? The government is going to to start looking into you, I'm telling you now, don't cry later. You're in the US, which is a police state, believe it or not. They're going to start thinking you're a Mexican drug money launderer or funding terrorist cells and covering your tracks by closing and opening new accounts all the time. The banks have already noticed you, soon they're going to start reporting you to government agencies for suspicious behavior. You're really attracting attention with that fees stiffing. You decide in the end if it was all worth it.

yoko07 07-31-2008 04:19 PM

Wow, some harsh responses. Why are you guys jumping down his throat just for not paying fees? I can name someone else from this forum who doesn't pay fees either, yet you don't tell him to jump off a cliff? This person was asking about checking accounts, not whether you agreed with the way he does his business. And Cantstandya how does him not paying fees make it harder for you to stay on?

Though I have to agree with Imjustme, closing and opening so many checking accounts is quite dangerous. Best to find another solution quick, you really don't want to be mistaken for a terrorist lol.

imjustme 07-31-2008 04:23 PM

I was just stating my opinion. Sure, I jumped down his throat. My point is, if you sell something and eBay doesn't close your account, just pay your fees. eBay is not all bad and evil. Sure they do a lot of things wrong, but this is really pushing it. If they leave your account open and up, just pay your fees. If they close you down, of course, I don't pay them either. But it's not worth wasting perfectly good accounts just to save a few bucks. You see now the problems you're running into with the bank accounts. If you keep it up, more and more problems will come your way.

Exeneva 07-31-2008 06:58 PM

Just a side question: I know you can open a WaMu Checking account, but does this checking account grant you unlimited savings accounts like ING? Or do you have to open each savings account in a different name?

doughboykilla 07-31-2008 09:45 PM

Lasted i check why would u need a bank account any way to sale on ebay? i never had used a bank account for ebay

Exeneva 07-31-2008 11:40 PM

I think he's talking about Paypal verification.

Ballsack 08-01-2008 01:24 AM

I don't understand why closing a 4th account with Wamu would raise flags. What is the purpose of letting customers create as many sub accounts as they want if opening and closing a 4th account within 8 months "raise suspicions"? That makes absolutely no sense. Also can't you just close these accounts online? Why bother calling?

Jonas 08-01-2008 02:36 PM

imjustme, so in Japan they're fine with you opening and closing lots of accounts?

Jonas 08-01-2008 02:56 PM

Modee, I wonder how many people are opening them just for paypal because they saw it in this forum and how many figured it out themselves or just learned of it elsewhere?

I have 42 open bank accounts right now. And about, guessing ...15-20 closed ones? Closed meaning PayPal suspended them, so they're worthless. I just haven't bothered closing them.

I have them all spread out at around 8 different banks, though. Some are in my wife's name, some in mine. No problems here.

Where exactly are you getting this information from?

mycrowman 08-03-2008 01:15 AM

Modee, do you know if there is a way to get them to allow you to deposit from an account with a different name? Even if you have it varifed are you sure it won't work?
Are you talking about paypal to ing?

Because I am wondering about send funds from the ING to another bank and vice versa.
