PayPal and SSN
 

Currently Paypal is requesting for my SSN and will not take an EIN as a replacement.

My options are pretty much entering my own SSN which has never been utilized on PayPal, or waiting the 180 days, which I'm trying to prevent.

My question is, will entering my real SSN on my stealth account cause any issues? The stealth name does not match.

I'm pretty sure whatever SSN verification they do on their end wouldn't pass, so you'd just be wasting your SSN by using it on that account.

I'm kind of interested as to why they wouldn't accept an EIN.

Was the request because you were on track (or projected) to hit the $20,000/200 items limit, or for some other reason?

Thats my fear, I'm hoping I don't waste a perfectly good SSN on salvaging an account that won't even be usable.

I'm a bit confused on that part too since I've only sold about $800 within this month before they limited my account. Although it seemed the trigger that limited my account had been withdrawing $50 to my bank account.

Oh, I also called PayPal to see if they could substitute the SSN multiple times although every representative that I experienced kept telling me I would not be able to do it as they are using the SSN for "Verifying your identity".

Yeah from what I've read around the forum, PayPal basically can ask whether or not the name that the SSN is for matches the name on the account, and will get a yes/no reply.

Obviously it wouldn't match for that account, and that would probably be the end of the account.

I'm interested if any of the veterans on here have any insight as to what would make PayPal request solely an SSN (as opposed to giving you options) and if there's any way around it once they've made that decision.

Yes if the name does not match the number it will be rejected.....

What exacly happened? What is the type of suspension notice asking for ID?

For future accounts OP, spread sales to keep amounts coming in lower.

I wouldnt give any real info to PP...ever - they keep that stuff forever
