Using EIN to bybass Paypal Tax Reporting Limitation
 

I've had a stealth account for several years and it has served me beautifully, but hasn't been very active. This spring I had a small item listed that sold like crazy and hit the 200 mark. Nowhere near $20,000 but definitely over 200 sales. I withdrew my $500 last month so I'm tapped out on withdrawls with about $400 remaining in the account, but now they are requesting a ssn or ein to avoid becoming limited.

I'm not worried about paying taxes on my income, I just want to have access to it, so my question is, if I use an EIN generated as sole proprietor but the business name as my alias will that work? I don't know what paypal can see or can't see. On the irs form is it listed like this:

My real name
My alias
My mailing address

I just made one, I believe you have to form your ein as a company and not as a sole prop because with a sole prop when they check with the irs it brings back your name but when you form as a LLC or etc it does the verification against your dba.

Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

Also why not set up a LLC anyway for the protection?

can anyone else verify this? Should I start over tomorrow and get an ein as a company not sole proprietor?
