Paypal limited, eBay not = what shall I do now?
 

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am in an awkward situation and need advice from an expert if you know what I mean...

As the title summarises, My Paypal account was limited a few days ago and apparently I cannot appeal, lets put it this way, I did nothing wrong.

Anyway, since I did nothing wrong, my ebay account with over 1000 feedback is still working fine.

Can anybody tell me what I should do? because I feel without Paypal, my ebay account is useless to me.

I think your help will be of great use, and I cant wait to hear what you have to say.

If your paypal account is toast then so is your ebay account.
Any new paypal account you put on that ebay account will get limited to, because it will be linked. Ebay keep record of alll old and new accounts linked to the same account.

So you have so start fresh..

Thanks for that anyway. So do you think I should just risk opening a new paypal? if its toast anyway?

How long will it take before it gets suspended? that way I can get a rough idea whether im toasted or got away with the act?

It will probably trigger after receiving your 1st or second payment.

Thanks. I will probably call PayPal tomorrow. Any tips on what to say? at the end of the day I didnt sell illegal items like they accuse me, so could I tell them to prove it or something?

All tips will be much appreciated.

I dont see how starting it all up again will help, if they limited this for a random reason, I dont see what stops them next time.

Also would you recommend using an alternative payment provider with my already working ebay account if all is gloomy with Paypal?

Acceptable Use Policy violation, we may hold your funds up to 180 days. We
will review your account at 30 days from the date of this email, we will
calculate our exposure and will release any excess funds to you for
withdrawal. If there are any funds remaining in your account at this time,
we will review your account every 30 days until either all your funds have
been made available to you for withdrawal, or a period of 180 days from the
date your account was limited is reached. Please log in to your PayPal
account and verify that your account information is accurate, as PayPal
cannot be held responsible for incorrect information provided by the
account holder.

You will need to remove all references to PayPal from your website/s and/or
auction/s. This includes not only removing PayPal as a payment option, but
also the PayPal logo and/or shopping cart.

The PayPal User Agreement states that PayPal, at its sole discretion,
reserves the right to limit an account for any violation of the User
Agreement, including the Acceptable Use Policy.

Under the Acceptable Use Policy, PayPal may not be used to send or receive
payments for items that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right
of publicity or privacy, or any other proprietary right under the laws of
any jurisdiction.

This includes transactions for any device or technological measure that
descrambles a scrambled work, decrypts an encrypted work or otherwise to
avoids, bypasses, removes, deactivates or impairs a technological measure,
without the authority of the copyright owner.

This includes transactions for devices that allow domestic video game
consoles to play back-up or import versions of games, such as mod chips,
game enhancers, and boot disks, software packages that remove protections
from DVDs, HD DVDs and Blu-Ray DVDs and allow the user to copy the
protected information into other formats, and card sharing services, which
is a method of allowing multiple digital television receivers to access
subscription television services with only one paid subscription card.

Exactly, the point is I didnt. Hence why they cant prove it because it didnt happen. Anything, and everything I sold was after speaking with ebay to seek their authorisation because they accused me of this once before but then an ebay manager told me to go ahead and relist. So that should clearly back me up?

What I mean was I never got suspended. ebay removed a listing once and I contacted them and they said might be a mistake - same reasons they provided saying I sold illegal items, but the ebay manager said go ahead and relist it and that he will take care of things.

Basically not my fault even remotely, I have no reason to sell illegal items to be honest.

What do you suggest I say when I call Paypal tomorrow? including explaining to them that ebay manager was the one who told me I can list that item in the first place.

Well yes it is your fault in a way.
As you saw this happen once and you went and relisted it.
No matter what a ebay rep tells you, you should never do the same mistake twice.
Now paypal doesnt want to know you.
You will find it hard to recover your account on what 'he said she said'

I have the name of the manager I spoke to, the date and time I spoke with them. Surely that's sufficient?

As for not listening to an ebay rep... why on earth are they there then lol

First off, Buhheh is probably right, your ebay account is probably a goner for selling with paypal. BUT, I'd call ebay and start hounding them get them to tell paypal your an valuable seller, a good family man, and are kind to animals! lol. That they "blessed" what you were selling, so put your paypal account back in place. It's not going to happen in 1 or 2 or 3 phone calls...But, if all you say is true, I'd fight to the death...at this point you have nothing to lose.

I am in the progress of disputing with paypal, going to take your advice and get ebay involved.

In the mean time, opened another paypal account and so far so good. 4 transactions, £500 in sales, so far no limits imposed.

For some odd reason, the ebay and new paypal account didnt link. My plan, use it until something does go wrong and at the same time get the existing ones fixed up.
