Paypal Demanding My Tax Info...Can't Recieve $
 

I tried to list something on Ebay just now and when I submitted the listing it said " Email address cannot be used for PayPal payments at this time"

So I go to paypal and they are demanding my tax information. Because of reasons I cannot even remember (years ago) my name that I use for Paypal is not my real name...I used my middle name and my wife's maiden last name. My tax id, ss #, etc will not match. Am I screwed? What can I do?

How will the Ebay/Paypal split figure into this? Will this issue be a moot point when they split?

Need advice.

switch it to a business account, provide an EIN

How do I get an EIN? What will most likely happen if I do this?

Get an EIN by signing up for one on irs.gov. Just make sure that your not paying a penny for it. Many websites pop up's try to direct you to their site and charge as much as $200

Man thanks for the help...I got my EIN and I'm back up and running on Paypal.

i just got the same message from paypal and have a question.
when you applied for the EIN on the irs.com web site, did you use your correct information? or the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ones you used to open the PP account?

Legit info to apply for EIN. This will be used by IRS for tax purposes.

Most important thing, business name in EIN should match business name on Paypal.

So what happens if you have several accounts?

Open LLCs, and each entity will have an EIN.

Not the same case with UK.

Or have many small ebay accounts that don't hit the magic tax info demanded levels. Apparently the choice for many here who would rather not pay for a hundred LLC's and access to legit addresses necessary for that.
