Will Paypal ask for documents further after they have unlimited my account?
 

Hi

Recently I was asked by payPal to provide documents for my paypal account which is a personal account. I did this and to my surprise they unlimited my account. This brings me to 2 questions:

The initial request was because I had hit the 2000 limit on paypal.

So for my first question) Will they likely ask for documents again in the future? If so the what types and why?

2) Is it best to convert my personal account on paypal to a business account, in the form of a LTD company or a Sole Trader. Which is best? Keep it as a personal account or change it to a business account?

Please note this is for UK Paypal.

No you can keep it personal, less questions asked.

Documents can be asked for at any time as a merchant identity review

If I'm not mistaken if you sell a certain $$ amount you will be forced to upgrade the account to business though.

Btw, OP, what docs did you give them?

I uploaded a bank statement and driving license to them.

PayPal can ask for more docs at any time.

In the UK you can stay personal for as long as you like, but if you start to push lots and lots of ££ though the account they will ask more questions.

Did you purchase this account or make it yourself?

paypal can come back at any time and ask for anything it wants if paypal has issues with the way the account is running.

Avoid converting to business. Account comes under too much scurtiny. But if you think your sales are going to be high, then seriously consider running multiple accounts.

Regardless of what account, keep in mind paypal can change its mind on whatever it does. Make sure you have invoices too.

Not sure where you got the £2000 limit. for the UK, the limit is £1900. paypal might still change its mind. Be ready for that.

Yep the account was made by me, and sorry about the confusion of the £1900 limit I meant 1900 not 2000.

interesting on keep it personal acc, any idea on what " a lot of money through the account" could be ?

would you say £500-1000 a month is enough to trigger more proof needed by paypal etc?
