Best dollar amount to stay UNDER for new stealth Paypal account?
 

I just learned a valuable lesson with one of my stealth Paypal accounts. A product I hadn't anticipated to sell quickly did and within 7 days I had $2000 pending in my Paypal account. This was a brand new account and I just got a notice today asking for ID, etc etc etc which I obviously cannot provide. Guess I'll be waiting a full 180 days for those funds :( I don't want to make this mistake again. Is there a certain dollar amount I should keep it under every month to stay under Paypal's radar?

No exact answer. It is a lot more than a dollar amount. Items sold, how they are sold, etc..
Listing characteristics, pics etc..

What exactly is paypal asking for?
Proof of address and ID? Anything else?

They want ID, proof of address, supplier info, the works.

To be safe... you should try to stay under $500 at any given time during first month or two from the first sale.. all my accounts stay under $250 atleast for first month.

there is unfortunately so many variables regarding item risk indicators that trip suspensions like these

typically, its comes down to light experience coupled with conditioned judgement that plays the most valuable role

Ive seen quite a few people try to get away with some, lets say interesting, techniques, and survive way longer than I could ever expect the owners expected them to.. but sometimes they just didn't know any better, didn't read.

Keep growth intelligently. Its understandable that lower risk items don't attract the same negative attention that higher risk items do….

risk assessment is the part of the stealth game that requires a bit of finesse and discipline to get right. Our minds can make us believe things we shouldn't when we want them bad enough… so its a bit too easy for amateurs to take more risks mistakenly

Sorry to hijack the thread, I just started a new stealth account but the items I sell easily get around 150-200 dollars.


Should I sell one item once a week or is that too much?

Seems like the general rule of thumb for new accounts is don't surpass 500 dollars....

What about the second month... third?

A general dollar amount would help >:)

I now tell my customers $1000, then $2000, then $4000

High risk yes. It was unfortunately the same item that got my first account limited but I made the mistake of trying to fight every dispute when I should have just refunded.

It's not an exact science.. I have made dozens of PP accounts in the past and some got limited after $2,000 and others after $20,000+. It depends on several factors such as if item is high risk or not. If you sell on eBay did you upload tracking info? How many disputes / charges backs are there? And so on.

As a rough estimate is stay under $500 a month.

History of the account, sales projections, like this poster said. There are numerous factors. I'm in year 7 of stealth so I have a good grasp. Unfortunately there is a learning curve to all of this.

The biggest issue I see with new stealthers is trying to do too much too fast. Unfortunately, it takes time now to build accounts get a reputation with eBay/PayPal and get things going the right way.

I have seen this happening between 1500 and 2000 on new accounts. This is not concrete, but I would always stay under 2k for the first 3 months
