Request for Tax ID or EIN
 

I got a limitation on one of my accounts for being over $20K/120 on an account over 4 years old. Got my EIN. When i try to enter it on PP, they ask that I upgrade to a Business Account, but I can't because it said i had a open case (which turned out to be a limitation to confirm EIN/Tax ID/ssn), so it just goes round and round.

Question: Has anyone ever called in to upgrade to a business account and provide the EIN/Tax ID?

I forget if you provide them with the stealth name/address and the valid EIN/Tax ID? or do i provide them what I gave to IRS (real name, random business name, real address)

Yeah, you can call and get them to add it manually. As always when calling, have your stealth information in front of you.

Definitely don't give them your real information though. They just need the actual number (the EIN) and the name of your business at most. You shouldn't be revealing any information about yourself.

Also, don't let them talk you into believing that a SSN is the only acceptable tax ID because it's not. Your EIN is perfectly fine despite what a rep might try to tell you.

Agreed. If you are good on the phone, by all means call in.

thats what they told me i couldnt give an ein had to be social maybe ill just keep calling till i getthe right rep

you have to show identity proof

give stealth info, real EIN

make sure EIN is at least 2 weeks old

for ssn- they will ask for the last 4 - enter the last 4 of the EIN

IRS needs two weeks to update their database


you may have waited too long to salvage this one

don't make the same mistake next time

side question,

So all this time, you kept it below 20k / 200 transactions each year, but this year, you decided to go over. Was it an accident?

How much was the account generating the previous years.

When you apply for EIN with IRS do you use stealth name and real SSN or do you make one up??
