why do they ask ssn and id?

i think i can by pass ssn, but is it easy to pass ID? do they verify numbers on id or just look?

You use an EIN for the SSN requirement

They can ask for it on sales and projected sales

If the account poses an issue to them and they limit it they can ask for the SSN to have it unlimited. In that case your chances of regaining the account are slim.
They can ask for the SSN or EIN when you reach (or they project youll reach) the annual sales limit of 200 items or $20,000 in any given year. Keep track of these number and spread your sales across multiple accounts and you wont have to worry about it.

To comply with the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) rules, we ask that you
submit your Tax ID number to us as soon as possible. Your Tax ID number is
one of these:

- Your Social Security Number (SSN)
- Your Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN)
- Your Employer Identification Number (EIN)

We are required to obtain tax ID numbers from all online sellers who
receive payments for goods or services through PayPal. If you do not
provide us with your Tax ID number, your account access will be limited,
and you will be unable to request or receive money. After you provide us
your Tax ID number, your account will be fully functional.

My SSN has been used and blocked already so I can't use it. I am about to apply for EIN as I learned from this site.

My question though...can paypal/ebay link EIN to my SSN?

I am planning to have several stealth accounts in the future, how, then, provide paypal EIN which doesn't associate with my identity?

I would greatly appreciate if someone can advise me what to do.

No they cannot link your SSN to from an EIN since the EIN is its own entity.

No, they cannot. The IRS does not share info with eBay or Paypal. When it comes times for paypal to report your earnings to the IRS, they will submit your EIN + business name and your sales amount via a form 1099. The IRS knows who the EIN belongs to so they are able to tax you, but ebay/paypal do not have any way of finding out who the EIN belongs to.

I used my same SSN before and I didnt have any problem. EIN can be tricky because IRS will only issue 1 EIN to you but there are other ways to get more.

The IRS will give you more than one EIN. I think you can only have one as a "sole proprietor" but you can form more than one LLC. I have more than one EIN and I've never used anything other than the IRS website to obtain them.

Anytime I've done this in the past, paypal gives you the option to either upgrade your existing personal account to a business account or start a new business account with your EIN attached. Do you not see the option to upgrade your personal account to business? When you upgrade a Paypal account all of the personal info remains the same. If you can't figure out how to do it, maybe provide a screenshot? It's been a few months since I've upgraded an account to business but I don't think anything has changed.

That is what i said, And also you are somewhat right. To get a new EIN as a LLC you have to meet strict requirements. For example if you own the LLC by yourself ,no new EIN will be issued

Hi there, could anyone please advise if there were a way to by pass the stealth PayPal account once they've asked for id and bank statements to verify account once it's hit a certain limit of £ ???? As the name address etc would be made up.. Thanks

Mostly has to do with tax laws because of the potential risk involved. However, as many shared here. Control your expense in a spreadsheet and report it yourself. As soon as you approach 20k mark on a stealth, try to cease use because you will be asked for the information.

Multiple accounts is the best idea. However, I would highly advise getting a legit PayPal (That's the tough part if your SSN has already been used, but EIN is a viable method too).
