"Email address cannot be used for Paypal payments at this time" Need advice ASAP
 

So I got a message from a buyer who was trying to pay for a video game he bought with "buy it now." He said it won't allow him to pay me and Ebay directed him to reach out to me. The only issue I have with PayPal at this moment is they are asking me for my SS# but it's still giving me the "remind me later" option whenever I log into paypal. I'm using a Stealth account that's been unmolested for about 9 months now.

My question is this...I previously went to the IRS site and got an EIN # for a prior account so if I get a new one will it be linked to the previous one? Or are EIN #s a one time deal linked to your SS#? Thought about using my wife's info to sign up for new EIN. I just would like to avoid calling PayPal if at all possible.

You can just get another EIN in your name. The IRS doesn't share any info with Paypal so you would not be linked by having 2 EIN's in the same name.

As for the inability to receive payments, that sounds like a typical tax limitation.

I tried clicking on "upgrade to a business account" on paypal but it says I cannot uparade cause my account is limited. Duh that's why I'm trying to upgrade. Is there anything I can do? I can't give them my SS # cause this is a Stealth account.

paypal can do limits on projected sales. That is what throws posters.

Your only options are to call in with a good excuse for not giving your SSN and get them to manually upgrade your account, or wait until next year when the limitation is removed and upgrade then.
