SSN, address, and my situation
 

Hi guys,
This may be tricky or not. I have a 3yr old account with my moms info(yes I have permission), and everything on PP is correct except the address which I had to use my brothers. I have been only buying up til now and want to start selling which means I will add a SSN eventually(with permission).

My question is does the address need to match her SSN?

Will PP ask for more info to proof she lives at the different address? If so what do I do then?

Ok next question. Will her last name be linked to other family members with the same last name that got banned years ago even with the new address?

No it will not. There are thousands of people with matching last names. As long as her SSN hasn't been used before, you'll be fine.

OMG thank you phaz0rz!! Huge sigh of relief. No her SSN has never been used. I only ask b/c when you google her name it comes up as living at a banned ebay address. eBay told me they will link you with any similar info from a banned account.

So just to be clear, she wont be linked to me or other family with public info found online?

Make sure the IP address is different than the "years ago" IP where other people got banned. And to be safe, I personally think you should use a new address (maybe a PO Box with a street address). A PayPal employee with nothing to do might match a mailing address or IP address and have a flag raised

I have records of most IPs, but not of the other family members. Theres so many IPs, that getting one from that far back might seem unlikely.

Looking into a PO box now.

Any others bases you would cover before the first listing goes up?

Get a gmail account and on the settings tab, put a check on "ask before displaying external images"-- there are some spybots that can link previous emails.

From another stealth book that i read, it recommends using a different browser than you've used before and don't use internet explorer. If you've never used google chrome or mozilla firefox or other browsers, it would be nice to use them now and eBay/PayPal will assume a different user than other members who might have been banned.

Been using firefox since I opened the account. Gmail is setup like you said. I just dont want anything to get linked, but it looks like everything is ok. I've had no problems buying on the account if that helps. Selling limits are 100/$5000 also

Rather than use your family members SS#, get an EIN and use that for a tax ID, that way any taxes owded will be under your name and you can avoid involving your family, lot less hedaches

Good point. Thank you. The way I was going to approach it Dmshark25, was to become her "employee".

I never have made over 20K anyways. I just cant do that kind of volume.

Is getting an EIN pretty easy? Can I add it down the road after adding a SSN?

Oh also when setting up the PO box should it be in my moms name or my own, or does it not matter?

If you use an EIN, though, PayPal will eventually ask you to upgrade from a personal account to a business account, which entails a new PayPal email that you'll have to add to your eBay account

Also a good point celebrityphotos. But what about the PO box? Have her open one or can I put it in my name?

I don't think the PO Box name will matter, just make sure it's not a US post office PO Box and that a physical street address can be placed for the PO Box.
I don't think eBay or PayPal likes PO Boxes as addresses (please correct me if I'm wrong somebody), so always have a PO Box that has a physical street address. PayPal and Ebay check these addresses to make sure they are vaild, but to them it looks like a business complex or an apartment complex.

Unless that address has been flagged, you can put your mom or your name on it, but when you get contacted, you understand the person you've listed is the one that has to answer if they're asking for a phone call

OK got a mailbox with street address setup today with her info. Not a PO box. Added new address to EB and PP.

1. How would I know if the address has been flagged, if the place I got the box has numerous mailboxes?

2. "when you get contacted, you understand the person you've listed is the one that has to answer if they're asking for a phone call"? I dont follow. You mean I need to answer with her name and credentials?

absolutely not. SS # don't have addresses.

Hey guys,
Finally after many months, I started selling on this account in my mom's name.(Yes, with permission)

I just had another question. Would she ever be linked to my dad since he got banned and they are married? Does ebay see their info residing at the banned address?

I appreciate all the help.
