If I add a bank account...
 

I used a gift card and registered matching name and address and all that. However I do not have a bank account. Can I just add my friends bank account or will paypal be able to tell the persons name attached to the account?

No Paypal can not tell the name of the bank account, but your friends bank will see a difference. Some banks care, some don't. It all depends on the bank.

What will they do? If they ask him should he just say its a friend or what ever?

Do a little research about banks in this forum.
Some banks are OK and others are not.

I tried looking and I couldn't seem to find anything about which banks accept it and what not.

What bank does your friend have? Maybe someone can say if they have used that bank successfully with a different name. I've only used BOA and I know it works.

So true! Why can't you get your own checking account? Tell us the reason and someone may be able to help you with this...

If I were to open a paypal with stealth name and were to open bank account in my own name would that work?

That would work as LONG as you DO NOT use ING as the bank.

If you use the bank ING your Paypal account and your bank MUST be in the same name or ING will lock up your bank account.
