Unpaid PayPal Debt
 

6 Months ago, I left debt in an account with a real address linked. I forgot and began to get threatening letters from Arvarto Debt solutions. 6 Months later, they have done nothing except send letters offering to settle the amount for a reduced price. Finally thinking about getting it paid off to ensure my safety.

Worth it or not (£100)?

Well....I'm sure your Credit has been affected by now....do you care at all about your Credit?

I'm a bit young.
Wait will this affect my whole residence? Obviously if they decided to send some collectors over for it then yes, but I wouldn't think it would affect it otherwise?

It will only affect you. Your credit score will already be marked for the next 6 years.

That's assuming it has already been recorded as a "late payment".

Get it paid and your credit report will be "clear" of it after 6 years.

A "late payment" recorded on your credit file will reduce your score but it will probably not affect your ability to get loans / mortgages assuming everything else gets paid on time etc.

Wait hang on, my ID was not verified, the address wasn't even Primary but they sent it to all addresses I had on there for some reason.
It was a throwaway account, how could that possibly affect me?

I made the assumption it was in your real name as well. I thought given you've only been a member of the forum for 3 days you would have had no prior experience with stealth accounts.

If it is in a stealth name you can ignore it and return the letters as "not known at this address".

Debt is assigned to individuals in the UK, not against addresses.

It was my real second name because I'm not very creative, but of course they can't possible link it to me, or damage a random person who also has my name's credit score?

You have been given good advice about payment vs non-payment. 100 quid is that big of an amount to let your credit score take a big hit? Wow...

But how could they possibly know it is me to give me a bad credit score.
I'd rather not pay if it doesn't affect me at all, how could they make an unverified name on an unverified address have a bad credit score it doesn't add up.

Oh - so the account is stealth except for the address...my bad. I think you answered your own question then....if you think about it...
