seems like paypal is restoring accounts
 

had the $20,000/200 item warning 3x, just got lazy and finally they blocked in Oct last year.

I had about 190 sales but only $6k, in Oct. I told them I was no where on pace for $20k and they said they know but just want a SSN because it helps verify the account.

Called today and the lady said the account is fine and back running

Logged in today and got a message saying thank you for submitting the info we requested and my account is fully restored (i didn't submit anything though).


10-15 years ago when they asked for SSN (even if no problems) and if customer didn't do, then they would ban. i guess back then they can be strict because there was 100s of millions of new customers. Now, that's not the case, their growth is dying and they won't block account if customer doesn't submit requested info (unless there are red flags).

You might have just fallen on a decent and reasonable customer service rep.
From my experience you can call regarding the same account and get completely different results depending on the representative you get on the phone.

Yeah, this happens, they reset in the new calendar year if you didn't exceed the 20K.
