21 day hold question
 

Hey. I recently gained access to my very first ebay account (aged 9 yrs+). I had previously forgotten the username for it, and lost access to the attached email as well, so I thought it was a hopeless cause.

Now that I have it back, I'd like to get an idea as to what sorts of limitations (or lack there of) it may have on it. It has 15 fb on it, but all are at least 5 years old now. The account was basically closed down and unused for 5-6 years until I had them reopen it recently.

Will this account be subject to 21 day holds if I start selling on it now? What if I start selling high priced ($1k+) items on it? Electronics? I basically just want to get some insight into what I can/cannot expect to get away with on this account starting off.

As it is my very first account, I don't want to lose it now that I have it again, but at the same time if this account will allow me greater listing freedom/leniency than the high fb 2007 account I'm primarily using now I may start using it heavily. Thanks!

I had one stashed, very similar to that (except the FB was 80+).

21 day hold did apply until FB was above 100. The age of the account didn't seem to help with listings in any way. It received an MC019 for a USED set of DVDs I tried selling (had recently listed some spare computer parts the week before I tried selling my old DVDs).

My idea was to use the old account like a garage sale, to get more FBs and to see what would happen under what circumstances.

It seems that it was treated as a new user, except I hit 100 FB sooner than if I had started with 0.

paypal can put limits on any accounts regardless of age. Go slow, build FB up. Work within paypal rules & the account should be OK

Is 100fb the only sure way? I've honestly been selling on the same old high fb accounts for awhile, so I haven't even experienced ebay/paypals 21 day hold issue yet, but I thought I read that 20 DSRs will also get you by.

If it's between getting 100 overall fb, and getting 20 DSRs, I'm certainly going to be shooting for the 20 DSRs. That seems like only a week or 2 of selling, while 100 fb could take months to build =/

Have you guys sold items on 6 month+ old accounts with over 20 great DSRs and still got 21 day holds?

With PayPal you just never ever know what the hell they are going to do. I have sold high dollar items on a new account without a hold then sold cheap crap on another established account only to get holds.....PayPal is like Russian Roulette.

Paypal and ebay dont care how many years the account has aged. They look only at recent feedback. I would treat it the same as you treat a fresh account since it hasn't been used in 7 yrs.

Hi guys I am a newbie lol but I am really experienced with this whole ebay and paypal thing. I'm in the same boat as a lot of people on this forum. I have had a paypal and ebay account since 2002. All of my accounts were suspended because of linkage with a suspended user who has moved to another state. Anyhow, I know all of the tricks and trades from countless testing and research(trial and error) I know exactly how to beat the 21 day hold with paypal also. It is very easy

LOL I AM DEAD SERIOUS!!! I know the trick!!! And I am not trying to scam people as many do. I was thinking about just letting this info out on the forum for all to see for free. It is so simple I swear. I look at it like if I tell 1 person then everyone will know eventually. So I am debating on what I should do. I dont blame you all for feeling the way you do because of how many people claim they have info and charge people, etc.

LOL lakeman, I was about to pm hwga once you told me. Thanks for clearing that up though. it has been a while since I used it since I have tried to stray away from paypal altogether and figured it still worked but o well I guess, things change drastically with this ebay and paypal fiasco. So now I guess we should get :focus:
