Question: Return putting your PayPal balance negative?

When you get a return, the funds are automatically held.

If you had just withdrawn most of the funds to your bank, this will cause you to have a negative balance.

Does this send a flag to PayPal?

Yes, that's not good. You don't want to leave an unresolved negative balance for a long time. They send debt to collections eventually, so they'll limit your account at some point.

Okay thank you phaz0rz. I only think it will be negative for a couple hours to a day max because more sales will come in, and once it's resolved it will be okay, right?

Yeah, you'll be fine. It's relatively normal for a balance to drop below 0 for a few hours. Paypal won't take action that quickly.

I agree with withdrawing to your bank .

But I wonder if you have thought of leaving the value of one refund plus some for fees?

Just a thought.

Re: Question: Return putting your PayPal balance negative?

@phaz0rz Yeah I'm already back to positive with a little money even left in there. So all should be good. Thank you for your input!

@GreenBean I think you're right! I usually would withdraw almost all funds just because of being scared of it getting stuck in there upon a limitation, but from now on I think I'll leave enough for a refund and fees. Thank you!

A good tip is to usually leave enough money in there to cover your Ebay fees. That way if you have a return it'll cover that. Once you make a sale you're back up again. Just don't withdraw too many times on a newer account.

I'm sure you want to keep as little money in there as possible lol. This may work for you.
