ano. I'm talking about the set amount they give you before they place holds on funds.

Does Paypal still do this on business accounts? Haven't made one in a while.

Last I checked they still apply these holds - and from a security perspective I don't see any reason for them to stop applying these holds. This is Paypal's way of keeping business accounts from running off with thousands of $'s of fraudulent funds before buyer's have a chance to start complaining.

With that being said I think the "release amount" on new business accounts is a permanent feature and won't be going away any time soon (ever, really).

It's always better to upgrade from personal anyway.

Well I know they will probably all have some sort of release limit, but I was wondering whether or not they have the different limits still from the get-go.

They base it off of how risky they think you are based on your first couple of sales. Usually you get instant access to the first couple of payments, then they decide what kind of release amount you'll have.

Standard seems to be 100 or 500...I've had higher in the past, but I haven't made a business account in a long while.

That's really low, lol. I don't think that's standard for everyone's sales patterns.

Last business account I started from scratch was 3yrs ago and had a $1200 release.

I haven't gotten any from April to June. Haven't made any since.

They USED to start with different amounts...I had one that had a $30,000 release limit to start with. I posted about it somewhere on this board. Things started changing after that and the ones I ended up creating were 100 or 500. The thing I don't like about doing business accounts is that anything above your release limit is held for 21 days. Regardless if your item was delivered, feedback left, etc.

Yeah, I know. I've griped about that before also. It makes zero sense for businesses to have to wait 3 weeks to get access to funds post-release amount, while personal accounts get access after a week. If you're legitimately trying to start an online business with a new business Paypal account, forget about trying to build up any kind of inventory for at least the first 6 months.

Exactly...personal accounts get access 3 days after delivery (for new accounts or accounts with holds). Business has to wait 21 days. Why? No clue.

Yes, brand new accounts that are created as business accounts.
