How Much Money Should One Always Leave In A PayPal Account?

Hi Guys,

I have a few PayPal accounts and withdraw from each one about every 3 days. I know that you should leave some money in the accounts when you withdraw, although I feel like I may be unnecessarily leaving too much money in the accounts.

May I please ask how much you would recommend leaving in PayPal accounts when withdrawing?

Thanks.

As little as possible

But seriously I always leave enough to cover one moneyback request to avoid account going into red if an unexpected return request is opened. I only sell low volume highish value items (not considered high risk) so around £160 ish.

Leaving too much in paypal is risking losing it, especially true for stealth accounts.

Fees plus 3/4 refunds is the balance I try to use :)

I aim for keeping 4-5x the average sale amount in my PP at any given time - my own approach

I actually leave it at $0 in my balance.

If there's a dispute or a payment that needs to be made, it'll withdraw from my bank

Thank you very much everyone, that's really helpful :)

@JamesNorth101 May I please ask if by "Fees plus 3/4 refunds" you are referring to your current eBay fees balance plus 3/4 of the refunds you have processed since the last withdrawal date?

Thanks :)

I agree with James. He is referring to leaving enough to pay your ebay fees plus enough to cover 3 or 4 refunds. The amount you leave for refunds is up to you. You know your product and how many refunds to expect from buyers, so you can adjust that part accordingly.

Both are things I wouldn't do. But perhaps in your experience it has worked fine for you so far..

Ideally, I leave 20-25% of the balance behind. In addition to covering potential disputes, I feel like if my PayPal account is ever reviewed it would look good in the eyes of PayPal that im not always zeroing out my balances after each sale.

P.S. In the UK, if PayPal takes money from your bank, the name on the bank gets revealed. Whilst its not an immediate cause for concern, it can compromise a stealth account.
