Anybody else get a letter from this company? American Coradius International
 

So today I got a letter from this Paypal Collection agency. American Coradius International. My paypal account 3 years ago went into negative someone scammed me. The amount was a little over $1000. My account stayed negative. 3 years later I get a letter in the mail saying pay up. I remembered that paypal has my SSN. I monitor my credit DAILY. And nothing has happened. They say if I do not dispute this claim in 30 days they will assume I owe the money...can someone please advise me what do to do. oh BTW im not paying it so don't say pay it. Thanks in advance.

Strangely the answer to your question is in your own post. You said you were scammed and the letter is giving you a deadline to dispute the claim. So shouldn't you make a dispute on the basis that you were scammed?

Send them a dispute letter via usps certified mail with return receipt

UPDATE.

I called and I was like WTF. They said you have been a victim of identity theft LOL. Ok yeah sure i'll go with that. Then the rep said paypal or IC whatever or whoever they are can't even touch your credit score or report to the bureau. SO they cant do ish. ayyyy just some 3rd party that works with paypal to try get as much money as possible when they know they really cant but they try anyways.

They certainly can damage your credit, and they can report to the three credit agencies.

The question is not can they, but will they. In a practical sense, they probably won't.

HOWEVER: This debt will be resold over and over again for the next 7 years, and it probably won't go away any time soon.

In most cases whenever you talk to the debt collector the clock resets to zero, so don't answer again, if you're lucky in 7 years this will go away.

WELL KIND SIR....im glad ur the fing paypal GOD. fact is that there is so much identity theft going around anybody can easily open an paypal account in your name.....you can easily fight and win. But so far this agency that works with paypal said aint nothin goin on my credit....and even if they do...i know how to get it removed so honestly not to worried. thanks tho paypal god.
