Paypal withdrawal pending for more than 72hrs

I requested a paypal withdrawal about 74hrs ago and it still says "pending". Is anyone or has anyone experienced this recently?

When I made the withdrawal it said it could take up to 24-72hrs. I don't wanna call them.

It can sometimes run a little bit over. I would just wait an extra day or so :)

Every time when I withdraw funds to bank, it will always takes about 2-3 days, and if it takes longer, 80-90% it will be reversed back and account will be limited.

I simply hate this kind of waiting.

Hope you have better luck.

It depends a lot on your bank. They can take a long time.

Withdrawls over this weekend will take even longer due to the holiday.

We are talking about the withdrawal in "Pending" status on the paypal website, that has nothing to do with the bank. The wire transfer from paypal to the bank is initiated when the status on paypal says "complete".

The 'pending' status has everything to do with your bank.

PP doesn't 'wire transfer', it initiates an EFT, ( Electronic Funds Transfer ).

EFT's are processed by a central banking entity, and there are three stages, the initial transfer request by PP, the central bank processing/routing of the funds, and then your bank first accepting then crediting the deposit to you.

Until all three stages are complete the request shows as 'pending' in PP. Once all three stages are completed and the funds are deposited in YOUR account, PP gets a return notice that shows all the transfer details, and only then does the status change to 'completed'.

Otherwise the EFT fails and the transaction never shows as 'completed'.

In the US the Federal Reserve processes EFT transactions after midnight on business days. It does not process on weekends or holidays, so transfers made on these days don't show as completed until the next business day.

Most modern central banking entities operate the same way.

Sorry mate, but you are wrong. The status is shown as pending (on hold) as long as Paypal reviews the withdrawal. It has nothing to do with the receiving bank. Until paypal shows "completed" the electronic funds transfer wasn't even initiated by paypal. You can check it here:

Re: Paypal withdrawal pending for more than 72hrs

I understand it says that, however, the Federal Reserve EFT process doesn't work that way. If you watch your bank statement you see the same process. Transactions are 'pending' until the EFT completion notice is sent to the initiator.

By the logic of that link, a failed transfer would show as 'completed' even if it bounced back as being unable to be deposited to the requested account.

By 'review' they may mean when the cleared deposit notice comes back to them. Or PP may change the status to 'completed' before they actually get the EFT completed notice, but the system works the way it works, regardless of that statement.

Re: Paypal withdrawal pending for more than 72hrs

The funds transfer isn't initiated once you click that withdraw button. After you clicked that button Paypal starts a reviewing process of your account. During this process your account, your transactions, former withdrawals, number of complaints etc. are being reviewed and the website states that the withdrawal is "pending". If they figure it is safefor them to let you withdraw your $$, they change the status to completed and THEN they will start the EFT. If the review of your account or your transaction fails paypals security check, the money will never leave paypal and the status goes from pending to soemthing else, the account will be limited and you can probably wait 180 days for the EFT.
