The one I have right now is legit with an EIN. Without some sort of serial number, I would run into constant issues because 200 transactions would occur in no time.

Is there any way to create many Paypal accounts to accommodate high volume of sales ($5000+/day) without resorting to creating businesses with tax IDs?
I'm in this dilemma right now as well... there are only so many account you can have (IMO) before it becomes totally impossible to manage.

I think a combination is best: have a bunch of accounts up and running each selling smaller volumes, and then maybe a few that handle bigger volumes with their own EINs. At least that's the plan I'll be executing soon.

It seems that the way to get around having to go stealth is to just legitimize it by creating an LLC business. I understand some people have been suspended on Paypal though, so it forces you to get creative.

As long as I am not breaking any rules, I don't think I should need a backup account.

The last Ebay account I had that got suspended lasted a couple years. So...if I have to create a new business every couple years to get a fresh Ebay and Paypal account, then so be it. Not the worst thing in the world. And I have learned from past mistakes, so I'm hoping to be in it for the long run.

Have 20,000+ listings right now, and I guess it was a matter of time given my growth rate that this would happen.
Do you mean you have 20,000+ listings on one account ? That is crazy,I hardly manage well when I have 200 listings per account.
Last time I changed my credit card information since that is VC when they asked these ****s.You give them whatever they want, those guys like robots. You will get your account back.

The account was still limited until yesterday. Had to call up a few times during that span and finally they just told me over the phone that the limitation had been removed.

Had to provide all sorts of documents and even change the name on the account, but overall, it looks like I'm in the clear.

This thread may not be terribly relevant to some on this site as it was not a matter of a stealth account running into an issue. As long as everything is legit and real names are untainted, there really should be no fear to call up and explain. They seem understanding and cooperative.

At the same time, it would be more than welcomed if Paypal got some real competition. ProPay and Payoneer is really the only alternative, and they are a non-threat. I think without them running a monopoly they would be hesitant to just shut down businesses so whimsically. Now I have a week's worth of time to catch up on.
