In a Jam : NEED HELP

I have just been limited with my Paypal account. Have been dropshipping in order to make sales on Ebay. I recently got to the point where I am pulling in around $5000/day in sales, so they must be considering my account a high risk.

Among other things, they are wanting supplier contact, invoices, SSN, photo ID, credit card statements, etc...

As mentioned, I am dropshipping (from Amazon and Wal-Mart). As far as I know, there is no rule against doing that. Customers have been very happy and have been receiving products in just a couple days.

A couple questions in order to get this resolved and my account back in order:

1. How should I provide invoices and supplier contact information given that I am dropshipping?

2. This account used to be in partnership with another person who is no longer involved. How can I provide billing records and a photo ID given that the person who helped open the account isn't part of the business now? Should I just change the contact information to my name, or would that seem odd to Paypal?

On a side note : I have about $20,000 stuck right now and counting, so some help would be appreciated so I can stop the bleeding.

Well, they aren't going to accept invoices from Walmart or whichever store you use, you are going to have to get creative and make some invoices.

Same answer as above, your gonna have to get creative or find someone to get creative for you.

Why would they not accept receipts from Amazon or Wal-Mart?

From my understanding, they are concerned about authenticity when they put accounts on hold. Amazon and Wal-Mart are as legitimate as it gets.

Or do they explicitly disallow dropshipping? (I have never seen this policy mentioned anywhere).

ok, so then use those invoices.

They do allow dropshipping but I'm sure with everything there are rules, and exceptions...I just don't know them all well.

Re: In a Jam : NEED HELP

The thing is, I don't want to be dishonest when I should have nothing to hide.

I was just wondering if there were people in similar circumstances on here who dropship and were required to provide invoices.

I suppose they may be concerned about sellers not having stock on hand, but a 6 month track record of customer satisfaction and tracking should quell that concern.

What I am more worried about is the personal information they require to verify the account. Not sure I can get a hold of the old partner that created this account. I'm wondering if I should just tell Paypal that I am the new business contact? I obviously would have no trouble providing the SSN and photo ID at that point.

What kind of items did you sell to get PP limited anyway ?

Honestly, I have been selling a wide variety of goods. Electronics, clothes, household items, toys, cleaning supplies, etc...

Basically anything I could find that I could flip for a profit from Amazon to Ebay. I avoid listing anything VERO/Big Brands.

Have 20,000+ listings right now, and I guess it was a matter of time given my growth rate that this would happen.

I wonder if calling up Paypal and explaining the situation would be a good idea?

Give it a shot.

Worth a shot, they frown on not being the owner/listed name on the account though. At that level, it should be a business account tied to a Corp/LLC. Worth calling to see whats up. Worst case is they perm-limit the account and it takes 180 days to get the $ out.

It is a business account for an LLC with the EIN number already entered.

Since the old partner/account creator is not involved at the moment, it seems fair that they would understand not being able to provide a photo ID and bank statement for that person.

I think it's a complex enough issue that explaining to somebody would be best.

Would love to hear what they have to say about that issue.

I would instead have to get the main business contact name changed to my name, and then provide the photo ID and bank statement afterwards.

I can almost guarantee you they will not be changing any names.....

Re: In a Jam : NEED HELP

This is all ridiculous then. It's a legitimate business (LLC and EIN) but the account is going to stay restricted because the business information needs to be updated to accommodate internal changes?

I don't even know why they would bother operating their site if they are going to worry about a business like mine, who has been a great asset and brought nothing but a positive contribution to the site.

Re: In a Jam : NEED HELP

Just called them and this seems like a total non-issue. They instructed me how to change or add a new user to reflect a transition in the operation of the business.

The fact that the old partner is no longer apart of the business is no problem, and a fairly typical situation that they fully understood.

Also get backup accounts going ASAP - don't rely only on this account

Re: In a Jam : NEED HELP

So for high volume, how exactly can I have a stealth Paypal account?

The one I have right now is legit with an EIN. Without some sort of security number, I would run into constant issues because 200 transactions would occur in no time.

Is there any way to create many Paypal accounts to accommodate high volume of sales ($5000+/day) without resorting to creating businesses with tax IDs?

Nope... you have to spread it out.

Read the stealth guide on this one.

ANd hey, if you are making $5k /day, this is a nice problem to have.
