paypal safe for website?

My website offers a regular shopping cart with the option of checking out with merchant account or paypal. Because my items are on the high end I like to offer paypal to make people feel more secure and trust my website. But how much can I trust paypal to not limit my account? Is it pretty safe if it's not through ebay? I've had my account for over 4 years with no problems through ebay, but I just wonder with all the panic ebay is having lately with their lawsuits. When people checkout through paypal on my website, it does not log in what the item is.
TIA

aaa1, I wouldn't offer Paypal for high dollar items period. It might make others feel safe but it doesn't help you when they freeze your account just because they can. Get a merchant account or do bank wire only, money orders, something else. All the biggest merchants do credit cards anyway.

Plus unless you have to why would you want to pay the PP fee on a really large amount?
Especially if they end up freezing the account after taking their big cut of it.

If you use Paypal you will lose your business within 6 months!

okay. Thanks guys. I have a merchant account so I guess I will stick with that.

Sadly I agree. Paypal is good for cheap items, but for big ticket items, I wouldn't feel too confident with them. Especially with all the fraud they have, it could kill your business if you don't know what to look for.

I can't believe that I have seen cars for sale that says PP only.
What are the PP fees on $10,000?

Maybe for a deposit, but why give PP that much?

Chris Hanson 08-30-2007 03:57 PM

Oh really.. Show me where the cars at the accept Paypal... I'm ready to teach the seller a lifetime lesson...lol

Most of the higher dollar and higher ranking vehicles that say Paypal only are talking about the "down payment" or service deposit.
