Paypal emailed asking to verify identity
 

The message I received was,

Government regulations require companies like PayPal to confirm customer identities. These regulations help prevent fraud and money laundering.
This will just take a few minutes. Rest assured, we'll protect your sensitive information.
Here's what we need:
• Your legal name
• Your date of birth
• The last 4 digits of your Social Security number
• Your current street address (no P.O. boxes please)
Be sure to take action by March 15, 2018. To add your information, log in to your account and check your notifications for a link. Please don't email your information to us.

Does it mean my account is done? Is it because I am close or might have reached the annual limit? What if I can't provide the docs, will it be a 6 month hold before release or is it going to reset later on? Thank you.

I've gotten this only on my accounts with stealth info. The accounts that match real info have not seen this request.

I suspect it may be triggered by the fact some of the (stealth) details given are not matching their 3rd party verification sources.

Using bogus ein until I actually get one made via a CPA. I have been doing I.T for years and haven’t had an issue. Will create only personal PayPal accounts until eins are created and filed with the state and irs.

Please disregard what I had said earlier. The PayPal account is a personal account.

Just upgraded to a business account with blah blah blah info and everything seems cool. Pop up under to do list is gone.

Any other options besides an EIN? Is it possible to use a paypal account with my real name if ebay banned me while I was sick for falling below their metrics?

i just received this email as well. is there any info on what can be done to salvage the account? i cannot provide a SSN. would updated the EIN number be sufficient enough? it doesnt seem like it but im unsure. thoughts? how do you get around this in the future?

Is your account a personal or business account?
Can you uprage it to a business and enter your EIN number for it if it's personal?

it was already a business account. thats why i am wondering why they need my SSN on that account. i obviously do not have it but ido have the EIN. should i just re-enter the EIN?

PLEASE help im not from the US Or Canada so i dont have SSN i wonder what is the EIN

The real question is how many stealth accounts are seeing the request to confirm identity? I have long suspected that PayPal is doing this on any accounts where the details don't cross reference and match real info in public records or other databases.

Does this mean the days of stealth are done? Doubtful, but at the same time expect that PP will be doing more frequent checks going forward, nothing new there.

I just checked the account. As of right now, it is not limited, I am trying to get all my funds out before March 15....
