Do I have to use my real name to apply for an EIN?
 

I know this might sound like a dumb question, but do I have to use my real name to apply for an EIN or can I use my stealth name? I'm asking this because on the page it says "Must match IRS records of this application cannot be processed." Does that mean I have to use my real name along with the SSN or can I put in my SSN and stealth name in to apply for EIN? Please help thanks.

But doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of making a stealth account?

I heard that the paypal stealth name must match the name on the EIN you're registering. So if I use my real name to register an EIN and apply the EIN to my stealth paypal account, won't this raise red flags with paypal?

I'm wondering the same thing. My paypal accounts are under completely different names and addresses that aren't mine. Of course you have to use your real name when doing any paperwork with the IRS, but for paypal purposes does that info need to match?

For Paypal, the only thing that matters is that the EIN is a valid number, and that the business name you give Paypal matches the business name you give the IRS.

Paypal can't see any other information on your EIN application with the IRS. The last thing you want to do is give the IRS any false information.

IRS sees this:
Your name
Your company information
Give you an EIN

Paypal gets:
Company information and EIN that matches what the IRS has on file. Mismatched company info from what the IRS has on file will cause problems if you go over the threshold. Nothing to do with your real name though.
