(TAX QUESTION) Registering Business name w/ State!!
 

Hi

Question,

Is it compulsory to register your business name with the state? I already have one stealth account registered which I'm filing taxes on this year. I have two other (stealth accounts) I'm filing taxes for but haven't registered their business names. My accountant said its NOT necessary but I was advised that he specifically is not always correct.

This is a heck of a first question even though you have been here since 2015.

Why do you use an accountant that might make errors?

I have one main LLC, I never registered the others for the EIN's I needed. I use tax software, with verified assignment of all EIN debt under one number and so far no issues. You can verify this with the IRS, tax software, or an accountant.

Depends on the state.

Who advised you this guy doesn't know what he's doing? How would they know? Are they an accountant of tax professional? Can they show you the statute and back up what they're talking about?

I use him because my fathers been doing business with him for long time so he helps us a bit and thanks.

My accountant said it was not necessary but good for legitimacy purposes especially if irs does an inquiry; google said registering the ein would prevent someone from taking your name which im not worried about with these other 2 accounts so it appears fine lol but Thank you SO MUCH :) :clap:
