Does PayPal always ask for an ID? Or can accounts go without being asked?
 

Right now I am selling $600-800 a week on a 1.5 month old account on eBay.

I'm wondering if I should slow it down.

But to the question. Does PayPal always ask for ID for all accounts eventually? Or if I take it slow can I go without this requirement?

PayPal ask ID more often this year.
I already lost 5 accounts this year for ID. But I still could not figure out the reason why.

With those figures averaging more than $2500 per month you can expect to get asked for those documents sooner rather later.
And not only that. At the rate youre going they will project very soon that youll cross $20k for the year and hit you with a request for your EIN/SSN very soon. Unless you come up with an EIN that will be the end of the account - at least for this year.
I never understand people who just operate a single account and rush things instead of operating multiple accounts and doing things slowly and properly...

@OP, rotate sales through several accounts - slow down your projected sales rate.

I have many accounts taking in more money than this that have never been asked for ID, so it's not inevitable.

But I don't sell foo-foos or large ticket items, and I established a long successful history with the accounts, and I always leave a a few hundred $ there to cover any possible chargebacks.

It has been a really long time since paypal has requested an ID for me. I think more than a year. Start slowly and work up. Sounds like you might be fine but you will be tax limited pretty soon.

Get more accounts, spread your sales NOW.
Take some strain off this account pushing $600-800 per week.

This is the best way forward, think long term.
