Does not match IRS Records
 

Been using a stealth EB/PP for several years now, quite successfully. Built up one account to 800+ positive feedback.

Unfortunately I recently got hit by the "Your Paypal XXX does not match IRS records." I vaguely remember, initially, creating an LLC and adding it to the paypal account in the earlier days (to remove the SSN/EIN request.) Unfortunately I don't remember the LLC name or EIN#.

Is there any way to "fix" or recover this PP account? Could I somehow apply for a new LLC/EIN and send to Paypal, assuming the LLC name matches my "Paypal business name?"

Or am I better off just scrapping this PP account, and starting up a new stealth paypal account, linking it to my old Ebay account?
I rather not jeopardize this Ebay account since it's going so well.

They usually request that you fill out a W-9 to correct your account details. Any sign of one?

I got one of these, I think they want you to go to the IRS and get a specific form and unload it to them, it isn't the w-9, it's something much harder to obtain.

Perhaps if he copies the text of the email we could help.

Looks like they are requesting a standard W-9 document. I have no idea what I would even put in regarding info - since it's all stealth. As I mentioned, I did originally create an LLC (i think) for this account but don't remember the LLC name.

Would I just be able to create a new LLC that matches my Paypal business name & address and just send it in?

Yea been getting lots of requests for tax info on accounts. Even though staying below the threshold.

So I was correct about the W9 request.

No, they are requesting that you correct the information for the EIN already on the account.

If you're unable to match IRS records you won't be able to salvage the account. Call the IRS and request another copy of your EIN paperwork (which you should have printed immediately after getting the first time). They will mail you a copy but it takes a few weeks. Requesting another copy over the phone is the only way to get one.

This isn't a very hard fix, TBH. Moving forward, be a lot more organized from the get-go.

So my understanding is that, the name on the Paypal account doesn't match the IRS (EIN) number, correct?

So if my Paypal is under Fred Smith, and the "LLC" I created was a business name, say Happy Smiths, LLC - wouldn't it still be a mismatch since the Paypal shows an individual's name, not an LLC?

Can I / should I change any of the Paypal info to match a Business LLC?
