Went to the bank today and
 

Had to post this.

Went to the bank to open a new checking, a new bank and wanted to use my middle name on the account.

Denied.... She told me she cannot open any account with using the full name off the DL.

I said ok, go ahead, she started to right down my addy from the DL and I told her no, I have a new address, she told me I had to bring her in a copy of an electric or phone bill. I said WHAT !!

She said that too many people are opening accounts to use soley for online sales and purchases and we are not opening accounts for that reason !!

I told her that what does it matter to the bank what you do with your bank account and she said because we are getting numerous phone calls from online sites asking to verify the name, address and phone number of the account holder......................................

I asked her you are not allowd to give that info correct and she said if you give the online site your bank info and they can tell us the numbers, yes we are allowed to confirm the info to them.

Holy crap...... now the banks are on ebays side too!

Ohh by the way I didnt open the account and need a checking to verify my PP account to be able to get funds from it.

Can't you just get the cheapest PO for the shortest amount of time and open it with that?

I'll tell you something. PayPal does not verify your name on the bank account. They can't. I tried it before with a US-based bank account in my company name and used my personal name for the PayPal account. I have done probably 100+ deposits and withdrawal over the past 5 months and it's still going. All they verify is the 2 small amounts they deposit.

So feel free to open the account at your bank under your real name and address and give PayPal another name and address. If they ever close it, just go make a new bank account.

That's insightful ebay-sucks, but I agree. I haven't seen any reason why Paypal will call your bank and ask for more verification then what they already do. It would take too much labor to do that anyway.

I agree. I only see it if they have allot of your money and they want to tie it up for some reason.

What I used to do is open a bank account with a bank that has E-banking. That way you get your online bank account numbers instantly..

Where have you been able to get your account number instantly online? I've been trying to open a new account the past couple days and almost all of them are saying it takes a week or two before the account is even open. Which sorta makes an ACH from paypal difficult...:rolleyes: I've even found some that require a handwritten signature before they'll go forward. Might as well just go into a branch the time that will take!

u can open a checing account immediately online thru them

I have several accounts with them and they were all opened immediately.I have 2 personal checkings, 2 personal savings, and 2 business checking accounts. The business ones I did in person, but the other accounts I did online.
