Confirm your US taxpayer status
 

I received an email today saying to confirm my taxpayer status if I fail to do so my account will be limited. My sales did increase this month had the account for about a year. It gives me the option to put in my SSN or ITIN. I have not went over $20,000 this year so didn’t think I had to worry about this. So what do I do how long do I have to verify this I know I can’t ignore it. Also my main PayPal has never been been limited my eBay was just restricted from selling.

I have same situation. I have stealth acct selling for 2 year with 180 item less than $20K no problem.. This year I list only 2 item with $2 each, andgot first time asking SSN or ITIN .

Does anyone know why it only gives me the option to enter SSN or ITIN and not EIN?

Yes, it is PERSONAL PayPal acct in U.S address.

Isn’t it best to just upgrade to business and enter a full ein?

It’s not giving me the option to add ein for some reason or I would make one. If I was just to make is into a business account would the verify taxpayer status message go away?

I figured out where to add an ein to my account but does an EIN application really cost $250 I though it was free and the LLC cost money?

Apply for an EIN for free at the irs website.

1) I plan to file for an ein as dba, are you able to have multiple dba under the same ein number? I want to use dba for multiple stealth accounts.

2) When filing the application for an EIN number as a sole proprietor do I put my stealth name or real name?

3) Also what about my address of my business will i use my stealth address for personal address?

4)Does PayPal see the name and address when we provide an EIN number?

Ya I don’t think I was on the irs website I’m going to check on Monday you can only file during their operation hours so I should be good on Monday

Ya I almost got scammed lol I did just create an EIN easier then I thought for free took 2 minutes but when I click on the message at the top of PayPal asking for taxpayer status And put in the EIN it says something went wrong please try again tried it a couple times not sure what the issue is but I did go to settings and enter the EIN number. It seems if you go past about $1,700-$2,000 in a month it will trigger PayPal into thinking your going to past the 20,000 threshold and ask for SSN.

I was able to submit the EIN and got an email saying I successfully submitted my taxpayer status so hopefully I’m off the hook for now.

Hi Shootemup321, did you use your stealth name to get a EIN or your real name? Or did you open a LLC and used the LLC name to get the EIN?

Any info would be helpful, as 2 of my stealth paypal accounts are asking for tax info.

Hi Shootemup321....... Hey was the paypal account a stealth account that you added the EIN too and where in the settings section did you add the EIN i have the same issue
