june 30 2018 paypal new security standards

Before June 30th, 2018 PayPal is requiring all account users to update their browsers to remain compliant with new security standards. You will not be able to access your PayPal account after June 30th if your browser isn’t updated. Learn how to upgrade your browser.

does anyone want to elaborate on this?

Does anyone see this as a threat to using paypal for stealth?

I always keep my browsers up to date anyway.
Never had any issues in the past. Don't see why it would be an issue now.

Not the slightest. Basically if you're still using browsers built from >10 years ago and hasn't updated it since, you're going to have a lot of problems browsing the internet.

I had to update my portable browser in order to access auth.net and the WF website a few weeks ago.

Now I know it's because of a forced TLS upgrade. Thanks for the link. I've been wondering why payment sites were being so pushy. Browsers have to be updated because old ones don't support the new standard.

I don't see it being a threat, but it could be. Who knows what kind of extra data the new TLS protocol will send..

Jesus, have many many Chrome portable accounts where they refuse to update, always some BS error. Will take me days to go through them and reinstall. Firefox was also giving me problems, but now there is a drop down box offering me to update

Although, many of the old chromes refused to work anyway, so probably no biggie

This doesn't apply to 99% of us. Most people update their browsers anyway, and even if you aren't running the very latest, it's unlikely it will be from years ago.

I know that you can import cookies and history now with standard browsers but as far as I know they don't have an automatic option for that portable browsers like that

Its nothing to worry about
