Best way to make $1000 payment...

I am buying some new wheels for my car from a guy and need to send $1030. I am trying to figure out what method is best for paying him. Should I just send him the $1030 directly or I have him send me a request for payment for the amount? Or am I just being paranoid and it doesn't really matter?

What do you guys think?

Juicyas 06-29-2009 07:44 AM

Probably paranoid. You're the buyer not the seller.. there's no suspicion of you being a scammer in paypal's eyes!

Yeah...Buying is completely different from selling. If anything, the seller should be paranoid! Unless he has a great paypal account.

Ok thanks.

I actually have a question thats a bit of an extension off of this- I have a good supplier and I just directly paypal him the money now so say I need to send him a large payment (ie $1000)- if I do that through paypal, will there be any limitations (I vaguely remembering something about getting limited for sending too much money but not too sure...)? And yes, its an overseas seller

there shouldn't be a limitation on your part unless your unverified

I deal with a number of resellers frequently with amounts ober $2000 and they usually pay me with Paypal (for the US) and direct bank transfer for European resellers. From a sellers point of view bank transfer is safe because once the money is in your account it cant be charged back. But then I have built up a relationship with these people. I have also had people (buyers) send me quite large sums by W Union transfer.

would it raise any flags, if I were to send (via paypal) $1000 to a new ccnow account? I'm looking to do this in the next few days, but I don't know what to expect from either side (paypal or ccnow), as I've never sent that much at once (or received that much in ccnow). Any insight would be helpful as I don't want to incur the wraith of either. Thanks.

if you sent $1000 to pay for a something that was worth $1000, it should not be a problem as long as it is not a banned item.
