Paypal will not dellete bank or cc #
 

So I have several limited paypals with attached credit card (active) and Bank accounts (active). So I went on one to delete information and it said unable to delete due to limitation on your account and said to contact customer service.
I did and they basically told me I was out of luck that they would not delete said items. WTF

Suggestions.

Nothing that can be done really

When limited PayPal don’t allow you to make changes

What is it your trying to delete and why? Knowing that may help find a way if there is one

I just don't want them to have my active bank account and active credit card numbers on file, I have NEVER heard of any place you could not CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT. I just want to close and delete my account. Sears let's you do it, Penny's lets you do it. Mastercard let's you do it, etc, etc, etc.

Well, Paypal doesn't. Not when your account is limited. When your account is limited and you go to the "what you can and can't do with your Paypal account" page, there are red X's by "remove bank account","remove credit card", and "close your account."

Naturally they don't want people closing their accounts as soon as they are hit with a limitation. If people could do that Paypal would be left holding the bag when all of the (potential) chargebacks and claims start rolling in.

It's all in the Terms of Service. You can't do those things when your account is limited because they want a way to get money from you in case your account goes negative during the limitation.

Yep and I have never seen PayPal remove that information when an account is limited; it's not in their best interest. This among many other reasons is why PayPal is generally hated by most experienced users. It's a love/hate with PayPal. People use it because if they didn't their sales would suffer.. but if there was something better you can bet people would drop PayPal in a heartbeat.

Well I COULD understand if the account got limited, but it has been 6 months and they have transferred money to my bank account. So there is no need to keep info on hand. Seems to me a class action lawsuit is just waiting to happen.

Well whenever something like this happens, what I'd do is change my CC and Bank info at my own bank myself. That'd render those info on paypal invalid.

But make sure that these CC and Bank accounts are not tied to the old one which you need to talk to your banker about.

Cancelling the bank account and card or having their numbers changed is a solid idea.

I doubt they are opening themselves to a lawsuit. They have a team of lawyers on the payroll to make sure their Terms of Service are airtight. Like most of us I've never actually read the TOS but I'm sure there's something in there about Paypal keeping your financial information after a permanent limitation. They cover all their bases.

Paypal save all info always. Even if you delete bank, card. It doesn't matter. You can easy do small test. Delete card, change address they go and try to open unauthorized dispute and there paypal will ask you this questions. did you delete your card, did you change your address?.. so.. paypal save all)

I know they keep everything forever, and I"ll take your word for it about disputes. I don't want to put a seller through that so I can test something lol.
