Confirm your U.S. taxpayer status

Hello guys
Today received a notification that I should confirm my taxpayer status.
Otherwise my account will be limited. I checked that I can receive money and withdraw it as usual. What will be the best solution in this situation? Is it worth worrying or not paying attention? Will this notice disappear at the beginning of the new year?

Thank you.

it wont go unless you send what they need normally they give certain time limit or amount after which your account will be limited so best is to take out the money now if you cant provide docs

I can provide them SSN. Is it enough?

How do you have a SSN? Using somebody's SSN fraudulently is a bad idea and will only cause you MUCH bigger problems with Paypal in the future.

Never understood why people from outside USA want to use USA accounts.

If so, what other suggestions? I don't want to provide them SSN, but for now this is the only solution that comes to mind. Maybe I'm wrong.

The legal way for you to move forward would be to either abandon that account until 2019 when your transaction count resets, or to apply for an ITIN on IRS.gov and provide that to Paypal in place of an SSN.

Giving a made-up or fraudulently obtained SSN is never the way forward. There have been users here in the past that did that and later had every transaction they ever processed reversed, leaving them with a negative balance of several thousand dollars.

Why did this happened if SSN belongs to the real owner of the account? I mean real SSN, not faке, not made-up.

You have a Ukraine flag so I'm assuming you don't have a SSN yourself, right?

If the SSN matches the person on the account but that person isn't you, you're still committing identity theft as per USA law.

You are asking for legal clarification and how to play with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ SSN...not in good interest of this forum.

I have the same question. From what I know with my limited knowledge is that it's POSSIBLE it may or may not get limited. Years ago I got a message like this and ignored it. The acct was in good standing and it didn't get limited. Keep in mind I always kept sales below 200 each calendar year.

I just want to make clear that this "confirm request" is a NEW kind.

I also got this message recently- on an account with under 40 sales and under $2,000 worth of transactions. Even continuing at the rate I was, there was no way I'd cross the 200/20K limits.

This is *NOT* an annual 200/$20,000-type limit... this is something new, and I got it on a rock solid low risk top performing account. I only saw/got it once and recently.

You cannot RECEIVE funds into the account, but you can send and withdraw and pay things with no problems, even from an available balance. (a nice variation from the normal limits). But they keep reminding you that you need to add a SS# or confirm U.S. taxpayer status or there will be "more limitations" coming.

If you haven't gotten this specific thing yourself, you probably don't know what he has... mine was random out of the blue, which was disappointing, but from the little I know about "creative" solutions I just withdrew and consider it toast.

I think a lot of people (as would I) are assuming this is an annual-limit type limitation, and it's not. I am 99% sure it's a new kind of thing, and triggered by what I really can't tell. Nothing was late/problematic on my accounts, it's all on the PP side, and maybe it's the beginning of a roll out of a blanket requirement across all PP users to confirm their U.S. taxpayer status... I'm not sure.
