Taking over someone’s PayPal account

Hi, a number of years ago I lost an eBay and PayPal account which was suspended indefinitely. Straight away I opened another count and soon lost the ability to use it once PayPal asked for verification and I didn’t pass. Strangely enough, my uncle who I lived with at the same address continued to use his eBay and PayPal registered to the same address as the one I lost with no issues at all. I started to use his account, selling items very regularly and have never had any problems at all with this. He sadly passed away a few months ago and his account has racked up some arrears in Ebay fees. I want to keep using the eBay and PayPal account but don’t know how to go about clearing the fees and continuing the account without them linking me to my old accounts. Can anyone please help?

Thanks.

Without getting into the morals of using someone who has passed away's account.... How did you used to use it? You should just be able to use it int he same fashion again

Morally there is nothing wrong. I’ve lived my whole life with him for years, although my uncle, more like my dad. He wanted me to use his account to help with my business. He actually got it all verified and just left me to use it as my own. Any sale was paid into his PayPal, then into his bank account. He would then transfer any money I needed into my back account so we didn’t have a link to my old account details. His bank account is now closed and because I have took over the house I now have debt collection letters from a company called Wescot threatening recovery procedures due to unpaid fees etc of which I cannot pay. I want to find a way to pay these fees, restore the account which I have been using for a couple of years and carry on as I always have.

I know I could link my bank account to the PayPal but do you think this will just close the account and with my name being linked to my old account which was closed approx 3 - 4 years ago. Any other way around it?

There are going to be tax implications on this if your running it under his name that you may need to look into

What you would be best doing it turning the PayPay into a business PayPal to remove his tax liability.

Then your going to need to add your own bank account (needs to be a new bank account, they wont see the name)

First thing you will need to do though is clear the eBay fees. Without getting that done the rest if pointless.

Thanks I will do that, the main reason I wanted to keep the account running is because it is registered to my home address. It will better if I can change the name. Do you think they will ask for verification again if I change it to a business PayPal account and change the bank details?

What really confused me is why this account never got closed in the first place when my old one did because they were both registered to the same address.

Its fine to change the eBay name

PayPal you should just upgrade to a business account

Accounts wont always get closed just because they are at the same address. I wouldn't spend much time thinking abut it.

Best thing to do would be to form corp or LLC with name similar to uncle's name. i.e. Bill Smith LLC or Bill Smith Enterprise LLC. It's totally legal as long as you use legit info to register. Then get bank account in LLC's name and should be able to hook up with PP.
