For doing what?

Soon it won't be an option for eBay.

So Paypal will not be an option at all in future? On which date does this take effect?

Some time in 2023 site-wide is what they're saying.

Seems like it will stop being an option for sellers on USA eBay sooner than that.

Not on this side of the pond. I'm being forced to remove my merchant account and switch to eBay managed payments 4 months from now.

No, not at all. Paypal is easy. This will make it impossible to have multiple accounts without having multiple LLC's or Corp's.

No problem on the account I have a merchant account on now since that account is a legit LLC account. But all my no-SSN stealths will be useless.

How about EIN's?

Me saying "multiple LLC's or Corp's" kinda implies you have multiple EIN's.

Using an EIN should still work but that hasn't yet been confirmed. Most here don't use EIN's though for one reason or another. (not in USA, selling shady stuff, not 18+, etc..)

I was under the impression that paypal would still be allowed to be used as a payment method - just not be the default one.

There are good alternatives other than PayPal but convincing your customers to use them is another story. Most people are used to PayPal, but unless you have a merchant account or Stripe. A lot of buyers prefer PayPal because they are used to it and it is easy for them to seek recourse if they want a refund. That's been my experience.

I do some big ticket stuff (consulting), above $2.5k per transaction and would prefer a wire transfer (which can easily be done online through most US banks to another US bank). But people still want to pay via PayPal, even though I tell them I don't take PayPal for it.

Buyers will be able to continue paying with Paypal but sellers won't be able to use Paypal for payments, basically.

The way they're explaining it, Paypal is being integrated into Adyen so that buyers will be able to continue paying with Paypal. But those Paypal payments will go into the eBay seller's Adyen account.
