Question About Messege Asking For SSN/ITIN
 

Hi, so I just got the message asking for SSN/ITIN, but this year it looks different. Usually before I used to get a message where it would say first warning, then 2nd warning and finally a third before I would stop selling and wait for the new year to begin for the message to go away.

This is the message I just got. It is definately different than last year's.

Because you receive payment for goods or services through PayPal, we need to confirm your taxpayer status. This verification is required to comply with US. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as well as State tax reporting requirements.

If your taxpayer status isn't confirmed, your PayPal account will be limited, and you won’t be able to request or receive money.
If you’re subject to U.S. tax reporting requirements, we’ll also need to collect your tax identification number and also ensure that your business type is correct within your Profile (Business Information section) to prevent reporting issues in the future.
The taxpayer identification number you provide will be used to submit Form 1099-K to the IRS and the state associated with your PayPal account's primary address when the payments you receive in a calendar year meet the income reporting thresholds set by the IRS or the applicable state. You can learn more about your state and IRS reporting requirements at www.paypal.com/irs.
If you have multiple PayPal accounts, you’ll need to verify your taxpayer status for each account.
If you have already provided your tax identification number, it’s possible that you are receiving this message because the combination of your Name/TIN didn’t match IRS records.

My question is, will this messege go away at the end of the year? Will there be a 2nd warning? Or will they just limit my account if I do not provide tax information? I can't provide tax information because the account is stealth. So far I have sold 130 items worth around $6500 this year.

yes they have OR will block you from receiving any more payments :rip:

If you do not provide the info they need you will wake up one day to a frozen account.

If you can not provide S$N, Get a LLC and use the EIN with it if you wish to continue on the account...if not its about to be toast.

This is if you want to keep your stats and not have to start fresh.

Well I got that after selling $52 of goods, then attached EIN and IMMEDIATELY was asked for proof of address, proof of business etc. Getting harder and harder and harder to be stealth.

Yes it is. I have doing stealth for 10yrs and its def gotten harder. We now expanding through Walmart, Bonanza, Shoptify, etc....

If we get limited that back up accounts are now very risky too.

We do lots of volume. 7 figures.

Yes correct you don't have to open LLC now cuz i think you're not going to hit 200 transactions by the end of this month

Similar situation. Got EIN set up. Put info into PayPal. Now a year later they ask for EIN paperwork. I sent it to them. Now they want business name & address on my electric bill, phone bill, credit card, bank statements...what to do?

Funny thing is I hit 20k in 2017 and no prob. This year I didn’t hit it but now asking for IRS EIN paperwork (sent it) but now want credit card bill, utility bills in business name. Wonder if I should call and just say I work from home so I don’t have utilities in my name?

When you adding the LLC and Amazon ask's " Who will receive the income from Amazon or it subsidiary?" in order to make the stealth more or workout correctly do you choose Individual or Business?

Also for the next steps can anyone give me some advise I just dont wanna mess this up and get limited or get my stealth and LLC screwed!

What happened with the account of the OP? Is account frozen now or did you get around it?

I just got a checking account & debit cards in my business’s name but they put my name on the checks and debit card along with the business name (so if I need to show id at Walmart for example) The bank claims since it’s a business account the only info PayPal or ebay will get is the business name. Is that true???

This largely depends on the financial institution and/or type of account and product used, but yes, if you are using a business account, PayPal should see just that name.
