Can't Add Bank Account Anymore
 

Have a "stealth account" that I took over from someone and I cant add any bank account this time. It asks for the routing/acct number and then ACCOUNT NAME. Which gives me the option of the stealth name or business name if you add one.. Neither obviously work. I thought that they never checked the name on your account? ?

Is it safe to try instant verification? All posts on this are 10yrs old...

That's the difficulty about taking over from a different person.
So when you try adding a business name (assuming this is a business ebay / pp) it declines it?

Any bank it doesnt matter. No it has nothing to do with adding a business name. The acct is not EIN verified only ssn but it has a business name and merchant acct this is 10yrs old.

Any bank you add under acct and routing number it has an option to select name which is acct owners name or business name. Obv none match so it says cannot verify you.

Is it safe to try auto login to verify bank instantly? And I thought they couldnt see the name on your bank acct??

They can't - only if you upload funds from the bank....or they take back the 2 deposits they use to verify the account (they do this from time to time)

They do, and it would make sense that they can see the real name on the bank account when they do that, but in the past it's never caused problems. But it's starting to cause problems now. It's become a lot harder recently to add new bank accounts to old Paypals.

Relevant story about "instant verify" : last week I tried adding one of my bank accounts to my wife's coinbase account using (WF) instant verify. The interface looked identical to PP's instant verify so I'm fairly certain both companies are using the same 3rd party for instant bank verification. I ended up getting an error message saying I couldn't add the bank account because the name didn't match the coinbase account. (example : bank account "john doe" cannot be added to coinbase account "jane doe")

Long story short, they can see the name on your bank account when you use instant verify. Again, they didn't seem to care in the past but apparently they're starting to care now.

Maybe all the KYC/AML regulations that are being enforced so stringently now because of cryptocurrency is causing Paypal to have to tighten security also. I unno. :noidea:

OP - If you have access to the correct phone number on file for your account you may have some luck adding the bank account over the phone.

If all else fails, get an EIN for the fictitious business name already on the account, then open a business bank account for the newly formed business, then you won't have to worry about the names mismatching.

so in other words, you cant add bank on paypal anymore on both micro and instant verify unless the names match up with both paypal and the bank?

Havent tried on a new stealth account not sure if its recent..

I don't know, but at least on older established PP accounts that seems to be the case now.

Like OP said though, I unno about new accounts.

If you can get around it why did you make all those threads about your dozens of accounts with money locked inside which you can't add bank accounts to?

that was weeks ago.....and during that time it was a different situation.....quick security check pops so that was in the way....but I know how to manually add phone numbers to bypass quick security check.....and now with this name matching for bank account adding is something new that i havent heard of......but I am pretty certain I can get past that as well....

Calling in this week to see if its a glitch (original owner is under same phone number to be safe). Worst case new LLC EIN bank account.
