Paypal rant... how is this fair?
 

So you make a sale on paypal and they send you the payment email including this line:

You received a payment of XXX from BUYER
Thanks for using PayPal. You can now ship any items.

(And I'm pretty sure the ebay email associated says to ship the item as soon as possible)

So what do you do? You send the item.

All is perfect.


The the next day after one of my sales I got this email:


Hello XXX,

To protect you from problematic transactions, we sometimes request additional information about PayPal payments.

We need more information about this transaction. Please log in to your PayPal account, click the "Resolution Center"tab, and provide more information by XX/XX/2009.

We recommend that you not ship the item until our investigation is complete. If you've already shipped the item, please log in and let us know where you shipped it.



Well I'd already shipped it as they told me I could then I went into paypal and told them what I knew.

Today:

Hello XXX,

We've concluded our investigation into the transaction detailed below.

Because we determined that you did not meet the eligibility requirements for the PayPal Seller Protection Policy, you are being charged for this reversed transaction. We've returned the funds to the PayPal account holder, and your account will be debited for the amount of this transaction.




Now how is this fair? I checked and this buyer had made multiple purchases on that day and now other sellers have had their money refunded :mad:

How come you din't meet the eligibility requirements? Did you Ship to an unconfirmed address?

I didn't ask.. no point drawing attention on a stealth account.

70-80% of addresses I send to say they're unconfirmed though.. I can't not send to all of them or I wouldn't make anything

Unless I am selling to somebody I've sold to in the past or somebody I'm entirely comfortable with, I ship on the NEXT business day. It allows the system some time to pop up with problems such as this before my goods are gone. Just because a message from ebay/PP says to ship now, doesn't mean I do or will. I mean, WTF do they know about my business and my buyers?

Doesn't help you in this case, and I agree their practices are complete BS.

C'mon, you have been playing the ebay/paypal game for long enough. Why are you surprised about paypal doing that? And wtheck would you send the item if you were not 100% aware of the buyer's pedigree? paypal care more about themselves than you.

PayPal's arrogance is astounding.
