Making first few sales on Paypal
 

So... I open a Paypal account.
I make a few small sales - very small, say under $5.
I can receive money without adding a bank account?
Is this correct?

After 5 small sales, I can then add a bank account.

Or is it always the MUST advice that I should add a bank account straight away?

others will chime in but I believe in the UK you can get sales and add a bank account after a month or two..

I have red that for the purpose of not burning a bank account it is advisable to mature your account for some time then if everything seems OK you can add your bank account to withdraw money.
However, as far as I understand you dont have to add a bank account if you already add a Credit card /VCC /debit card etc. You call still got your money by buying bitcoin or a gift card.
I am not experienced so better to wait for some senior members.

USA banks can be added as a "default" to any pp platform but some (such as Canada) have become very difficult to do so without calling in. I am not sure if UK is the same now but I can see it needing a call for US bank addition.

what would one say to them? "Hi i'm Canadian but I have a Us Bank can you add it for me?" wouldn't they get suspicious and ask for ID?

You dont need to add a bank right away. You can use a PayPal account without adding a bank account. Though adding one does make it stronger.

Haven't called in for a while but you can try to be polite and see. They would not be suspicious if you answer their ID check questions I figure

I called in to add US bank to foreign PP twice in the last 6 years, while they didn't ask for photo ID they did ask the standard security questions, which i would expect them to anyway because they won't just add bank accounts to accounts to anyone who asks.

The reason I called was because i kept getting the message "sorry, we can't complete the process again now, please try again later." Basically how it went down is they removed some mysterious setting on their end while I was on the phone and I entered my bank information into paypal while still on the line with the customer service agent.

calling in is the only way i have been able to add a US bank to a non-US PP. The system has never allowed me to do it myself.

Thanks for all replies guys.
I'm going to make a few accounts and make small sales.

Paypal they say you have to add bank within 3 months or something?
(If that's the case... then perfectly OK with me!)
Just wanted to be clear about it all.
