PP requiring SSN to verify identity?

I have business paypal account. I attached a EIN to it from a LLC I created.

I got this notification telling me "if you would like to use your paypal balance to send or spend, Please confirm your info now"

Brings me to a page where it asks for my name, address, and SSN.

Its attached to an ebay account with over 800 Feedback but it was idle for a couple years and I just started selling used electronics on it.

I called them to ask them why they needed that when I made it a business account. They told me it is required because of the patriot act and etc....

Is this account burned? my SSN was on a burned PP account from like 12-13 years ago so obviously I don't want to give it up.

No, it's not burned. You'll just have to withdraw all the money that comes in into your bank account, rather than spending your Paypal money.

I’m assuming that goes for paying for postage as well.

But yeah you won't be able to use eBay or Paypal shipping anymore without giving your SSN and unlocking the ability to use your balance. There's tons of other easier/cheaper ways to do your postage in 2019 anyway. Stamps.com has their own software which I prefer but there's also easyship, pirateship, easypost, shipstation, and several others.

What about using a CC that I have on Paypal?

This is just for the balance correct?

I’m assuming this is common issue then? Haven’t spent a whole lot of time here as I was out of eBay PP world for a while.

As far as I know, it's just for the balance. I really can't comment on using your CC for postage because I haven't used eBay postage in years, and I haven't seen any users here post about it since they started rolling out this update a year ago.

Seems like it should work though. Let us know please.

Pretty sure you can still use a credit card attached to a Paypal account. From what I understand the only thing you can use your PP balance on is paying eBay seller fees.

Yes you can use the credit card AND the bank account you have attached to the account.
And from what another person has reported they were also able to use their balance after a few withdrawals to their bank account.
Sounds to me like theyre trying to weed out the stealthers out there who don't have a bank account. Pretty effective way to go about it. But if you have a US based bank account you can withdraw the funds to this doesn't impact you as much.

I’ve been withdrawing to my debit card cuz it’s fast. Should I stop doing that?

No.
Theres no reason to stop doing that.
So you can use it for both withdrawals and payments.
