Re: Paypal Policy Update for March 29, 2019

My credit union lets me create new savings accounts with a simple add sub-account feature. Makes it super easy to have however many bank accounts you want, each with their own account number.

So most of my paypals have bank accounts, confirmed, and have visa gift cards added as well, but no tax info.

So i'm hoping these changes won't be a big deal for me. But the hand writting is on the wall folks. Stealth is going away. Pretty soon it will only be those willing to commit actual fraud / identify theft that can remain in the game. The laws are changing, crackdowns are coming. Its a sad new day in America.

The only logical reason for someone to have an issue with opening bank accounts, is past banking problems. If you have average credit.. or great credit, you can open bank accounts in seconds. If you're selling fraudulent products or say very very high risk products then that's your business model and you need to understand there is going to be that risk. Churning bank accounts at one institution is just moronic. Learned that very early on years and years and years ago. Just like stealth.

It's worth mentioning that banks do hard pulls on your credit, and if you have too many hard pulls it's going to drag down your credit and make it harder for you to open bank accounts. Lots of banks and almost all CU's check your credit + chex when you apply for an account. I'm just now having all the hard pulls from when I started stealth and opened a bunch of bank accounts fall off my credit report.

So, to add on to what moscutter said, it's a good idea to space out your bank account applications a bit, and also to make it a good mix of personal and business bank accounts.

Also, note that once you open a bank account with most banks you will be able to open sub accounts (savings accounts is usually what I go for) under that banking profile. Opening those accounts will NOT pull a credit check when its done. Only the initial bank opening will do that.
Regardless though when I open accounts with a new bank I open one checking and 4 savings - one for me one for the 'wife'/'girlfriend' and two for the 'kids'/'nephews'. Never had any questions asked.

Sometimes you just gotta take the loss on interest etc... i know i do. For example BOA,Wellsfargo, Suntrust etc.. etc.. all require certain thresholds to be met for free checking. i have several wellsfargos who sit at 1500 because i don't want to close them in case i add them to a new account, remember... ebay is doing away with paypal soon, so you're going to need a bank account anyway for the ebay. And ebay doesn't give a **** that paypal limited you, so that bank is reusable with them.

Hi, I stumbled upon this forum as I searched for information regarding this upcoming change.

I'm in a foreign country but I signed up for a US account years ago with my real name/passport/dob. I used a virtual debit card (expires in 2024) activated with a legit US address that happens to be the same one in my acc, and a friend's real bank account to verify my account.

I rely on balance for my daily survival in this country (long story), how will this affect me?

Not sure how your accessing funds now. But if your friend is cool with you transferring the money to his bank & him sending it to you. That's the only way you'll be able to do it.

I've been using Balance to pay for my expenses here and hopefully be able to escape. Never had an issue even after the April 2018 policy changes with regard to balance, but now I'm scared once more.

With Wells Fargo, if you keep balance at zero, they won't charge you and make it negative. BOA will charge you and make it negative. I dropped BOA.

As long as you have a USA bank account added, you should be fine based on current understanding.

That's a relief, it's a friend's US account and I've never transferred funds to it though, just there for verification. Like I said, I rely on balance to pay for basically everything (food, meds, etc) given our country's situation.

Once I'm able to move into the US I plan on getting my own bank account and whatnot.

Talk to your friend. Make sure that bank account is still active and make sure it's okay for you to start using it.

Since you won't be able to SSN verify your account, your only option will be to withdraw all of your funds and pay for your expenses outside of Paypal.

Correct. Unless you can SSN verify, you won't be able to use your paypal account.

My accounts are now asking for me to do this. They want full legal name, Date of birth, full address(no po box), and last 4 of SSN or Tax id.

Does anyone know how they check this info, how do they check last 4 digit SSN with an account name. Do companies really have access to everyone's SSN numbers?

This is another nail in stealth's coffin IMO. It would be very easy to just make this new system mandatory after some grace period.

Credit soft pull for bank accounts - hard pull for credit. Difference on score effect.

It's not worldwide though like you were asking about in your original post. So just stop using USA accounts now.

Not for the foreseeable future. This update deals exclusively with adding SSN's to USA Paypals. I haven't seen any mention of "claim it" or "paypal cash accounts" on any of my non-US accounts.

Good luck either way amigo.
