Paypal Rolling Reserve Issue
 

Hey All,

I got an email today from paypal saying they will be reserving 20% of my transactions on every order that i get for 45 days. see below the message:

We're holding a 20% reserve over 45 days in your PayPal balance to help ensure you can cover any losses due to chargebacks, claims, payment reversals and refunds.

is there any way to get around this? apparently its because i dropship.

the PayPal agent has told me she has sent a request to the back office to look into it abit further and to possibly lift it.

your thoughts?

This is usually when you pose a potential risk. Someone I knew who had a pretty old legit account got this when it started selling digital services in high volume. He sent in some more documentation about his business and they removed it after a few weeks.

thats the thing.

iv had my ebay account since 2016 and same as paypal.

i started dropshipping in september 2018 and to this day have 100% positive feedback from over 1000 sales. i then opened a second account on the 3rd feb 2019 and have done just under 200 sales this month (linked to my OG paypal account that is connected to my OG ebay account) my payments were put on hold for 24hours, i had to send in documents and id, upload tracking info etc etc which i done successfully and they lifted. now from yesterday iv been put on this 20% rolling reserve. i cant make any profit from it, i cant even pay my ebay fees or pay my workers. cos that all comes from the "20%" that they are now holding from me.

I had a 90 day rolling reserve back in the day. Sucked ballz!

Just kept on selling and shipping. It finally went away one day.

If you have low margins, though, it can CRIPPLE you!

@reggie, nothing to do but roll with it - maybe spread sales on to different accounts and see what caused this rolling reserve. Like ebs1974 stated, just keep on selling and providing good service.

its most def crippling me, my margins are low. the 20% eats my profit and ebay fees

Then you'll need to do something different, for sure.

Have you been getting a lot of returns, or cancelled orders because of items out of stock?

i have gotten returns however they are dealt with promptly.

free returns label sent and then refunded right away. no wasting time.

paypal and ebay say my record is fantastic and there is nothing wrong with me or my account and the way i conduct business, it is fabulous.

the only thing they are saying is because i am "dropshipping"

I Once had rolling reserves, 20% As well BUT MINE WERE FOR 180 DAYS! Thats 6 months! I immediately discontinued my business with PayPal- After like 6 months they lifted the rolling reserves, then 2 months they called me pleading for my business again(They saw my sales plummet from 20k straight to 0)- indicating that whoever put the reserves on initially was ridiculous..

-Nonetheless You need to leverage, I leveraged by having other PayPal accounts and I only sold through those accounts.

hey thanks for your tip, its really made me feel super stressed!

when you say leverage by using other paypal accounts do you mean open another new paypal account and using that?

i just dont want to be stuck on a 21 day hold etc etc

Hmmm.... I haven't had a 20% rolling reserve yet.
It seems that it doesn't matter if the account is old or new, rather the type of products you are selling?

almost always they go away of you offer great service. You can call every month and politely ask for them to be removed. It almost always has to do with what you sell or the service you provide.

well,

my first account i just sell bits and bobs like tape, toys, gardening soil food etc etc

and the 2nd account which i opened new is predominently selling beauty cosmetics

i have 100% feedback totalling over 2000 transactions from when i started in sept 2018 to now.

eBay admit that my account is in fantastic standing and PayPal agents tell me my account is really good.

but i keep getting hit by limitations, 24hr payment holds or in this case right now a 20% rolling reserve.

all customers are dealt with professionally btw.

Have you tried confirming your identity by Phone and calling them?

If you have used Real SSN then you can validate via background checks...

EBay comes out recently on ReTAil Arbitage rules.
In your case,it could be both dropshipping and the category you sell in

Yes. You will have to go through the whole process of 21 day holds again. But it is better than reviving an account is stuck with reserves.
Try to open 3 more new stealth accounts ASAp
And leverage all your products on each stealth.
-5 products here
-2 products there
-4 products on a separate account
sell slow and build up, you'll gain traction and momentum again
