New Canadian Law Requirements

So I have had an a Canadian bought account about 3-4 years ago that I had been usually with no issues for that time frame. About 3 months ago I had to send in some documents like passport, utility bill, etc and my account was restored. About a week ago, they hit me with another request for information which was mostly the same, but unlike the last one they wanted a student transcript, or like a Canadian tax statement to verify the identity. These seem to be tough to get because none of the backdoor sites have these documents that can be photoshopped, etc. I am just wondering if there is any type of workaround for this issue. I don't sell bootlegs or replicas, just used clothing, some basic electronics, this and that. I'm thinking my sales volume may have triggered this. I did plenty of searches around the forum, but this seems to be a newer rule.

I did send them what I had again, the passport, electric bill, etc....but the last requirement I don't have or have access to. I called them the other day as well since I have auctions ended and people can't pay, and tons of inventory. Any help on this matter would be appreciated!

some how Paypal must have discovered there is something not right about your account, that you are not in CAnada or not Canadian.
may be you are a foreign student studying in Canada?

post #3 is probably wrong and post #4 is misguided. There was just a thread about this yesterday. topadog or whoever the OP was called in and they told him why it happened.

apparently it's related to a new law impacting certain Canadian provinces.

so what is the reason behind this-asking for student transcript?

Re: New Canadian Law Requirements

A student transcript would be accepted in place of a Canadian tax statement so younger sellers still in college would have a way to show valid government docs even though they may not have filed a tax return yet.

Fun fact - PayPal nor Government are allowed to look at transcripts unless you give them permission too including in student grants/loans. So if you have no grants/loans, the government isn't allowed too unless you give permission, or if they have too for a good reason. PayPal isn't a good enough reason to verify identity. Have fun being creative

I did happen to see a couple new posts about this. I didn't mean transcript, it is like a legal document saying you are a student or something similar. I think it has to do with volume I believe, because I have none nothing different over the past 3-4 years. Hopefully they'll accept what I sent, we shall see.

That's exactly what a transcript is, it shows your previous classes, marks, that you're attending, etc. but if you mean the one with a seal that'd be difficult to be creative with

I went tax papers way. It was pretty easy to be creative.
