| johncarter | 04-15-2019 12:57 PM | Confirm your business identity After I upgrade my personal account to business, since paypal wanted EIN or SSN for 1099K Requirements. Everything was good to go then, Top screen i see "Confirm your business identity"
Here is the message
"To send or spend the money in your PayPal balance, you’ll need to confirm your business identity first. Doing this helps keep your account secure."
They want 3 things "Business Name and EIN" Document, "Business Address" Document, "Business Registration" Document"
Right now I can't send money or use to pay for shipping labels.
Only option I can do is withdrawal to my bank... This this new?? I never saw this before |
Re: Confirm your business identity Haven't you received any email regarding the New Policy? |
| johncarter | 04-15-2019 01:04 PM | Re: Confirm your business identity No, I thought they wanted last 4 digits snn on personal accounts, and thought business accounts, was different. and giving the ein and confirming the old way was enough |
| Leader2dark | 04-15-2019 01:30 PM | Re: Confirm your business identity This is something pretty new. People have been posting it over and over here last couple weeks. I don't use business accounts, I think the general idea is to avoid them for now, if you are stealth. |

How long after you set it up as biz did it take for them to ask you to confirm |

How long after you set it up as biz did it take for them to ask you to confirm | I had account for year, my sales pick up and paypal ask for SNN for 1099K or i can't receive payments, so today i upgrade to business, added EIN then right away upgrade it ask for confirm business... I can't give them the doc they want so i can only withdrawal funds to bank account, and receive payments. but can't send funds (like paying ebay fees, or shippings)
They made it a pain, i guess i have use stamps.com for labels and gift card to pay ebay, my other way around this mess.. just wasting more time. |

| phaz0rz | 04-17-2019 03:15 PM | Re: Confirm your business identity If you've already upgraded your account to business with an EIN, why can't you upload copies of the paperwork they're asking for? "Creativity" would not be required for any of them since they're only asking for your EIN/business documents and nothing personal.
This seems a whole lot easier than those who are buying new personal accounts and trying to come up with personal documents to provide. |

Unless they're checking the name on accounts now.. and there's been some indication lately they are. |
| Lucynda | 04-17-2019 03:25 PM | Re: Confirm your business identity I got the same thing when I upgraded in an attempt to avoid the social security requirement. I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't set up an LLC for this account but I plan to send ⊗⊗⊗⊗ docs. |
| glacier922 | 04-24-2019 01:50 AM | Re: Confirm your business identity Well, as long as you can withdraw to bank, then everything is fine I would imagine. The only nuisance is u can't send payments to other people or pay ebay fees or buy labels. But then again, you can earn points on your credit card! |

but then on this forum,it seems folks are able to link any bank account as long as they enter the correct routing/account number and able to verify the micro deposits?
Which means if I know my grandma's bank account number and bank routing number and password to verify the micro deposits ,I can link her account whether she consents t o it or not? |

Companies verifying bank accounts via micro deposits are working with the assumption that the end user must own the bank account being added if they have the login credentials to check micro deposits. | In over a decade that stealth accounts have existed, that's never been true. Those users had to have been having some other kind of problem. I have about 15 PP's with bank accounts attached and not one of them has matching names between the Paypal and bank account.
With that being said I have noticed in 2019 it's becoming harder to add bank accounts. I can only speculate that they may be tightening their security around adding bank accounts judging by the number of posts there have been recently from users trying to add mismatched name bank accounts to PP accounts, both new and old. :noidea: |
| glacier922 | 04-28-2019 03:07 AM | Re: Confirm your business identity So what is the verdict here? I got one of these request business docs for one of my paypal business accounts as well, but I never did anything about it other than provide EIN, it matches with the business entity. I can still withdraw to a bank, that's all I need right? I know I can't spend or send money with paypal, withdrawing is fine by me. That's all that's needed correct? |
| Lucynda | 04-29-2019 11:10 AM | Re: Confirm your business identity I had this come up when I upgraded one of my new accounts. I wasn't selling on it at the time so I didn't pay any attention. I went to see what they wanted last week and the notice was gone so I don't have any idea what documents they were wanting me to send them. Maybe creative LLC documents? |

But I have question about doing that...
When you pay ebay fees with your debit card, do you enter debit card number or do you have to add your Real Name and Real Address? (along with the 3 digit code and stuff...)
I didn't pay ebay fees with credit card, in forever so I kind of forgot how it works again...! | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:19 AM. | |
